Does anyone know of any brands of naan bread that are vegan in the UK? All the ones I have seen have yoghurt powder in but I'm living in hope that there's a vegan one out there somewhere.

Please help!

yes, my local asian grocery shop place sells one. they had 2 flavours, a chilli one and a garlic/coriander one, and they're both AWESOME! i can't remember the brand but i'm off there later i think so i'll check and post back my findings.

There are definitely vegan ones in Taj in Brighton - I stock up a load every time I'm there. Again, can't remember the brand name, but maybe one of the Brighton posse wouldn't mind to nip in and advise, and you could look 'em up on t'internet.

I'm fairly sure that there's an accidentally vegan one somewhere in Sainsbury's. I'll have a look next time I'm in.

Tesco and sainbury's both sell vegan naan. In tesco it's their healthy living range and in sainsbury's some mini ones are vegan. the ones that are most like 'real' naans all have yoghurt in though.

the ones i posted about are made by a company called The Clay Oven Bakery. they don't seem to have a website though, but the packaging has a "suitable for vegans" tick box on it so they're good enough for me! 3 massive naans for £1.50 too- top stuff.

Morrisons ones used to be, but are no longer. I was pretty sure tescos /sainsburys were non-vegan last time i checked - will have to look again!

I've never been that impressed with supermarket naan though - the accidentally vegan ones tend to be the budget options.

If you want slightly more adventurous flavours it's easy to make your own with a breadmachine - recipes for peshwari and keema

Cool - let me know how you get on :)

Now that realeat (lm mince) has changed recipe slightly; I think the redwoods mince would work best - it a bit less firm so less likely to rip through the dough.

I just checked Tesco - the only one not containing milk they had in a reasonably sized store was light choices mini naan (std size had milk).

Thanks guys.
There is hope!
I shall see if I can find any of them that you've suggest this weekend.
Curry's just not the same without a naan!

The Naan you tried was Shana Chill coriander and Garlic naan I believe! and yes they are great!!. If you would like a sample please get in contact with us. However our naans do contain milk but are free from egg!

well in that case, they're no good here since we're talking about dairy free too.
but this post is clearly spam anyway, so i doubt you care.
thanks!

Wrong Indian! :)

This is a native american frybread recipe.

Tastes good, but bears no resemblance to naan (yeast risen, contains fat, cooked in tandoor).

Shana just posting on a message board to promote a product if you aren't part of the community is spam. Also as this is a vegan forum posting that all of your naan's contain milk wasn't particularly helpful or relevant to the discussion.
