P+G have sold them!!!!

http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/gutche ... ringle.php

Do we think this might make them more vegan friendly or probably not?

I did not see that coming! It seems odd for a large company to sell such a popular product.

I hope they don't make them less vegan friendly, they're good crisps and often the only food behind the bar! I try not to buy them because of P&G but they've saved me from starvation now and again.

I really hope that the new company is more 'ethical' than P&G, as well as maintaining the vegan friendliness!

there have been tours where all we managed to get to eat for 24 hours was paprika pringles... that did not feel good!

I tried to google Diamond Foods, but I only came up with Diamond Pet Foods. Not sure if they're the same, but from the looks of it, I kinda hope not.

I think it's a big US Company. I see the Diamond Foods label on lots of nuts and things in American supermarkets.

Yes! This is exciting, I loved Pringles! I hope they don't become less vegan friendly.

Not wanting to be the barer of bad news......

According to wikipedia P&G will maintain a 57% share:

2011: Diamond and Proctor & Gamble announced that Pringles would merge with Diamond for $1.5bn from Proctor & Gamble in a structured deal that will leave Diamond shareholders with 43 percent stake and P&G shareholders with 57 percent. The Deal is expected to close at the end of the year.[2]

So you just need to eat the Pringles from the Diamond Foods end of the tube...

Or of course realise that the Diamond flavours are the vegan ones, especially the wasabi

I read original post and assumed Efcliz was meaning that Pringles aren't vegan-friend because of the P&G-ness. But is it something else? (IE, animal ingredients in the recipe)

I'm not even that crazy about Pringles. I love crisps, but I love a million and one brands way more. Especially since my mate told me that they taste like "crisps that someone else has chewed up and then shaped back into a crisp". But I used to dig making 'pringles duck mouth' when I was a kiddie.

I'm led to believe that several varieties contain no animal products, but many people (myself included, for over a decade) boycott P&G due to their continued use of animal testing.

Yeah, I meant the P+G thing, because I know lots of vegans avoid them. Some of the flavours are completely vegan. I find myself conflicted about these sort of products, like marmite and Original Source shower gel. I think I probably should/could avoid them, but then I wonder if it's any different from eating vegan food in a non vegan restaurant, or buying vegan food/cosmetics in general supermarkets/shops, all of which I do.

Personally, I minimize and avoid with P&G and similar - but I can't say I'm 100%.

Same here. I do eat pringles now and again and buy original source shower gel occasionally too.

I quit them because of P&G - they're my favorite chips! (crisps, since I'm here in the UK forum: )

It seems that the deal hasn't actually gone through and that they're still owned by P&G:

Is original source p&g? Thought it was PZ Cussons.

Newer articles that the one i posted confirm that oringles are still p&g.
