I really liked it, I kept thinking it was all kind of grotesquely beautiful, if that makes sense. All the strange forms and the little details like bumps and ridges on the polyps. I thought his preliminary drawings were really cool as well.

Agreed. His stuff is like the surreally beautiful love-child of Hieronymus Bosch and Dr Seuss!

Yes! My friend and I kept commenting about how much it reminded us of Dr. Seuss, especially the Ikebana boat. I also loved the fact that a lot of it reminded me of the ocean, I still can't get over that ceiling! Did everyone else notice the cherubs in the ceiling?

I thought the cherubs were creepy, but then I tend to think cherubs are creepy in any setting.
I've never made the connection to Bosch in his work, but now that you mention it, there's definitely some connection there.

The ceiling was full of sea-related things; we had fun finding the different sizes of cherubs and cephalopods. I LOVED this exhibit. I want to go back to 1.) see it again and 2.) buy one of the Chihuly umbrellas.

I loved how almost everything reminded me of the ocean! The first picture that I posted reminds me of coral. I would definitely go back and see this again.

I was short on cash the day we went, and have had non-buyer's remorse ever since. I want to take my sister, and this time, that umbrella is going to be mine! (And then I have to be really, really careful not to leave it somewhere, because I have a mind like a sieve.)

Now they're back in stock, but I want to go back to the exhibit anyway, so I'm not ordering online. I've never owned a nice umbrella before; I worry about the same thing.
