So the folks who brought us Veggie Planet are opening a veggie/vegan diner in Central Square this fall (zomg, finally). What have you guys heard about it? I suck at using the internet, and am even worse at keeping up on all things current, so please update here if you hear anything! They do have a blog ( http://veggiegalaxy.net/), but I want to hear what everybody thinks about this place, too.

Is it open yet? I'm hopeful that it will be open the next time I visit my parents who live about 30 minutes outside Boston. Too bad it didn't exist when I was living there, although I wasn't vegan back then. It sounds like it's going to be good.

Nope, not open yet unfortunately. Their site says "summer 2011," but construction just kicked off earlier this month, sooooooo. Yeah, wondering if that's actually going to happen. I'm crossing every crossable body part that it does! Do people have favorite veggie diners from cities more exciting than Boston?

For the record, it's a vegetarian diner, but the baked goods will be vegan (like Veggie Planet). I live right around the corner from this place and have been watching the windows (which are covered up) for progress for a while!

Yup, just like VP everything will be veggie by default, with options to make dishes vegan as well as straight up vegan mealz. Mmm.

I am so jazzed for this place, and jazzed for a meet-up!
Does anyone know anything about when it's actually slated to open? They keep saying SOON on the blog, but no actual date... Not even a month! Sadface.

Mr. Shankly heard August, and I just found this on the "Boston Restaurant Talk" blog saying the same thang: Quote: June 29, 2011 update: A note sent to our Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page from one of the people behind the upcoming restaurant indicates that Veggie Galaxy will likely be opening in late August. Squee!

They are open! And friggen delicious! I went on Labor Day for lunch with a vegan friend and it was sooooo effing good. I almost went back for dinner the same day but my omni dining partner and I had been drinking quite a bit before we got hungry so we figured middle east would be a more suitable environment for us. But! I am going back again on Tuesday and I can't wait!

I had the benedict breakfast sandwich (they were out of homefries - boo) and everything was tasty, but the tomatoes were a little chilly. Mr bap had one of the omelettes which he loooved. We got a piece of chocolate cake (which we ate minutes later in Harvard Square) and a black and white cookie (which we ate hours later, right after getting home). They were both amazing. I need to go back for the lemon meringue pie!
