You mean Hynes Convention Center, as opposed to the Seaport World Trade Center?

You'd probably like Spike's. Their veggie dogs are vegan (get the junkyard dog!), and they have good curly fries. Otherside is equally close, with shitty service, meh food (but lots of options), and what I'm told is a good beer selection. Addis Red Sea is good Ethiopian.

Aw, I like the Otherside. I usually get the tempeh BLT. I have an affinity for hipsters though.

Good to know about Spike's. I tried to ask, and I really confused the guy working there. I got so frustrated that I left. Seaport is kind of no-man's land though I think.

Also California is a giant jip. All these restaurants in Boston are open till 11, 12, 1am. In CA everything mostly closes early, even in SF

I think this is the first time this has ever been said about anything in Boston.

Clover Food Truck! At South Station. A bit of a haul for lunch, but deeelicious. Also, I work about 1/2 a mile from there near the cruise ships. I'm not a particular fan of Addis Red Sea, but I love Asmara for ethiopian food. The Otherside Cafe is good in back bay, the listed vegan restaurants are all good. If you like books, Trident Booksellers. They also have a few vegan options for food too.

no friggin kidding!!

isn't summer street the seaside one?? i used to go to a grantwriting workshop series there and it was not horrifically far from south station, where you are tantalizingly near good vegan pho and bubble tea..... did they ever get the Happy Buddha back up and running?? I miss that place so hard I could cry.

My Thai used to be Buddha's Delight or something like that. I was going to say Clover, too! I feel like Seaport is just, outside of everything. I live in JP though, which is THE END OF THE EARTH! OMG, YOU LIVE IN JP?! :)

I work on Summer Street, and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center is a 5 minute walk from my office! Come visit me and we can get chickpea fritters at Clover. gato works near here, too, I think.

ETA: There's also Flour Bakery which has a pretty good grilled tofu sandwich and vegan chocolate cake but they're kinda expensive and always busy. Down the street from that is Yada Yada, which has hummus wrap and veg dolmas, and the people who work there are really nice

Addis was pretty good. They were out of the ethiopian stout which I wanted to try really bad and they didnt have sambusas?

I got the veggie platter and ecerything was tasty, although they gave me the white boy plate as none of the spicy dishes were actually spicy. I guess I could have asked for a side sauce but I was starving from the trek in the rain and I felt sorta creepy eating solo in there as its so set up for a more communal eating experience

If you don't have a lot of time, Flour cafe has vegan sandwiches. Other people mentioned the Clover food truck. And My Thai isn't too far. (There are a bunch of other good places in Chinatown, too--Suishaya is one of my favorite Korean places, and Shabuzen has a veggie broth and plate.)

If you have a lot of time, take the red line (south station) up to central square--Veggie Galaxy, a new vegetarian diner (and vegan bakery) as well as Life Alive, a healthy/hippy vegetarian place, and the Middle East, where all the vegetarian options are vegan.

yeah if you have a lot of time got to Veggie Galaxy for sure! It's the best veg restaurant food in Boston in my opinion (so far, it's pretty new)

No worries, I'm going to Chicago on fri. anyway so wouldn't have been around. Let me know if you're in town again and want to hang out though, you should get your band out here.

Check the Middle East (mideastclub.com)--they sometimes have punk shows and have something every night of the week.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting to/from Veggie Galaxy, as long as you have a T pass. It's maybe a 20 min ride on the T (tops), but maybe 30 mins if you take the silver line TO the red line.

Not sure- the Middle East is pretty good though, and 2 doors down from Veggie Galaxy.

In Harvard Sq. there's Charlie's, and in Allston the Model and the Silhouette. In the Fenway area there's TC's Lounge, actually one of my favorite dive bars in Boston.
