im thinking of going. i have some personal things going on i have to figure out first but if those things arent happening then i might go.

im confused about the tickets though. i hadnt really thought about buying a ticket because i dunno....i hadnt thought of it. i thought it was just a show up and buy food sort of event.

but it seems liek you have to buy at least the $5 ticket?

Pay to get in? That sounds pretty dumb considering you're paying for food and drinks once you get in. Especially considering every other festival in Cambridge you just walk right in and it's free, and they have vegan food available already.

yeah im confused because you have to pay to get in and then i assume the food wont be cheap either????

i live out in suburbia so i have no experience with food trucks at all but based on watching Great Food Truck Race on tv (hahahaha i know....i know) it seems like food truck food is way more expensive than i would have thought.

im conflicted whether i want to drag my asparagus all the way into the city for this with a toddler

I'll be out of town for a wedding, but if any of you go you HAVE to fill us all in on what's there!

I looked into this more and to be honest, it looks pretty boring. I go to festivals in Central and Harvard sq all of the time (this one is in Kendall) and they're always free to enter but the vegan one which looks like it has significantly less than regular festivals is charging tickets to even enter. This may seem like nothing for some but I don't make much money so it's just another thing keeping me from being able to even enjoy the festival. The only beer that will be served is Sam Adams and Otter Creek- we live in New England, Sam Adams is the standard beer everywhere. I like Sam Adams but when that is pretty much the only beer at the festival, that's not a big draw. Then when you look at the list of food trucks it just kind of looks...boring, imo. I don't even recognize the trucks that I love going to. When you go to any of the regular festivals in the squares they usually have Taco Party, Clover, Indian restaurants, Loving Hut, etc. And at the regular ones you can usually find a handful of various beer companies offering a range of creative beers.

thanks for posting that. i think that helps me decide whether i want to go or not because i was super on the fence. doesnt sound like it's worth it to drag my asparagus all the way to Cambridge, pay for parking, take the T, pay for what i imagine is expensive food, etc. all with a toddler.

i find it weird they are branding it as a vegan food and beer festival and only have 2 beers!

if i lived closer i might go but i dont think it's worth the drive into the "big city"

thanks!

No problem. I thought of people who were driving here when I wrote this. Since then, they also capped the amount of tickets they were selling to this so that "people wouldn't have to wait in long lines" which just kind of sounds....snobby to me. Not sure if snobby is the word I'm thinking of. I've also learned that it's put on by non-vegans and all of the trucks save for one are not vegan trucks.

I went (only because my mom was so excited about the prospect)! It was kind of meh. Most of the trucks were serving some variation of salad or a bowl from what I could tell. A couple were sold out when I got there around 3ish. I spent the entire four hours I was there waiting in two lines for a kind of mediocre wrap (the interesting looking trucks had an even longer line so I went with Rhythm n' Wraps, which sold out of the wrap I wanted just as I got to the front of the line) and an awesome soft serve float (a twist with pomegranate soda) from Like No Udder, which I've never had the opportunity to go to before but will definitely hunt down if I'm ever in RI at a good time. My mom got some sweet potato fries from a truck I can't remember that were awesome.

Overall: better idea than execution. Yay vegan ice cream and lots of cute dogs. Boo, super long lines and a boring truck lineup
