Sadly I think you're right. There was one in Austin that was part of a toy store and then someone new bought the toy store and got rid of the bakery. And there's restaurants that have good bakeries like Spiral Diner in Dallas and Fort Worth but no real stand-alone bakery. There's talk of one opening in Austin at some point though.

I'm headed south tomorrow. I may have to go WAY out of my way to hit up this shot and give daps to Tom Z (I assume that's his back in the first pic).

I love The Garden Grille. Crazy Weech and Buddha Bowl, please. Can't wait to try Wildflour.

I went to Wildflour today. I had a fantastic gingerbread scone but my chai latte unfortunately wasn't very good :(. I thought the muffins/scones/cookies were priced fairly but the desserts seemed a little expensive to me ($7 for a slice of cake). The only savory items I saw were a couple of biscuits (sundried tomato/rosemary).

I will definitely go back though (it is about 35 minutes from me) and want to try Garden Grille next time I head down that way.

yeah, i had the chai yesterday and it tasted like bandaids to me...

michael had one of the savory scones the other day - it was a jalapeno/corn scone and it was amazing. really really tasty.

we had the carrot cake and the chocolate torte last night and i wasn't crazy about either, although michael really liked the chocolate torte.

i have a coconut cupcake and michael has a chocolate cupcake for tonight, so we'll see how those are.

my favorites are still the pecan sticky bun and the xgfx coconut/banana muffin.

I got a cinnamon knot and a coconut cupcake awaiting me, but the pretty cupcake fell over on the way home and some of the frosting slid around a little. I'm still stuffed from United BBQ so it'll have to wait until later.

Last I went, I got a Mexican chocolate whoopie pie that was pretty great!

So everything was pretty tasty! The cupcake was a little more dense than I typically like and the coconut flavor wasn't terribly strong but it was still good. The cinnamon knot was also good, but I wished it had more icing. I would definitely go back.

Also, the ginger lemon tea thing I got was tasty and made with real ginger and lemon juice.

Went to check out Wildflour last night after a trip to Rasoi. I was flabbergasted to be in a store where EVERYTHING was vegan and some things were also GF! I was on cloud nine having such a variety of items to choose from! I ordered gf chocolate cake and a gf pumpkin muffin for tomorrow AM. Husband got carrot cake. We took them home because we were stuffed full of Indian food. The cake was ok - the frosting was too sugary/gritty for me. The cake was a little dry/crumbly. Honestly I have gotten better results with Betty Crocker's new gf chocolate cake mix. Sorry, that sounds snarky but that's what I was thinking while I ate it! :( The girl seemed to have gotten my muffin order mixed up and I was surprised to discover I had a banana/coconut muffin this AM when I got it out of the box. I figured it was still gf because I could see it had quinoa in it! Once I got over the fact that it was not a pumpkin muffin it was quite good. Husband liked his carrot cake but not the raisins, but that is a personal preference thing ;) Overall I would definitely go back to try some other baked goods and next time I will go when I'm not full so I can sit and have a coffee with non-dairy milk (yay!) with my dessert. Oh and the staff was very nice and helpful, but there were an awful lot of people working and no customers besides us! Don't want to see them go out of business because they're spending too much on having so many staff on! That plaza in Pawtucket is like a vegan mecca now with Rasoi, Garden Grille & Wildflour! Just have to get rid of that icky BBQ place with the cartoon pig logo that looks all excited to eat himself! =/

I've had the peanut butter brownie. Ye Gods, I can't believe how delicious... Also had the coffee cake which was good, not dry at all.

I am so excited that they're open in the evening!

Living only 10 minutes away from Wildflour has resulted in several visits already. It's a real treat to be able to have a full array of choices when visiting a bakery.

They've got some really great cheddar & broccoli/cheddar biscuits, which our just about 1-year old baby-biscuit thoroughly enjoys. I've had many of the cupcakes now (candy-bar, red velvet, coconut), all very good.

They also have blueberry crumb cakes, which are fantastic. I am a fan of the knots, the sticky buns and the peanut-butter brownies too. Oh, and the hot chocolate! It's great. Oh god, what have I become?

My next planned trip to RI isn't until Feb 12th for a show, I hope I can find a reason sooner to go. Please music gods, give me a show worth going to at The Met. Or even better, in Providence.

I tried a pizza twist tonight. It was pretty tasty!

i bought a cinnamon twist on the 6th! i wonder if we were there at the same time. the twist wasn't very good. dry and it tasted like it was made without salt. but i also tried the pumpkin whoopie pie and it was awesome.

I stopped in after work sometime between 5:30 and 6pm. I'm in Providence a few times a month for my job. We should meet up next time!

The boyfriend and I finally made it to Wildflower this weekend! We went in the evening, after dinner at Garden Grille.

I'm allergic to powdered egg replacers (which all use potato starch), and when I asked about it, the 3 employees there said that they use it in most things, but weren't sure which ones had it and which ones didn't. I do have to say that it's always a little pet peeve of mine when people don't know the ingredients in the food they're selling. BUT they assured me the raw stuff wouldn't have any, so I turned away from all the awesome-looking cakes and cookies and had the raw chocolate ganache tart, which was AWESOME. The crust alone won me over--I have never had a raw-foods crust that was so delicious.

I have been in there twice now and was also irked by the appearance of dairy. This made me question whether or not all of the baked goods are in fact vegan. Next time I visit, I plan to ask about that... perhaps if enough people put the pressure on, the dairy will disappear!

It is worth noting that are owned by the same folks that own the Garden Grille, which does offer cheese on many food items. So perhaps the owners aren't strict dietary vegans, per se...

i don't think there's anything to suggest that they wouldn't be a 100% vegan bakery.

as others have said in this thread, sometimes vegan places make an exception when it comes to dairy for coffee. i don't really get why, but i've seen it happen in a bunch of places.

well the guy that owns garden grille is most def not vegan...

I guess I was just confused because some baked goods are labeled specifically "gluten-free" or "vegan," so that made me wonder, then, if the "GF" goods are also vegan, or are they merely "GF"? They need to be careful with the labeling... I would like to assume that everything in the place is vegan, since they call themselves a "vegan" cafe and bakery, but the appearance of dairy, even at the condiment bar, is worrisome... I mean, they probably are willing to make non-vegan lattes, so that means that real dairy would be touching the same steamwand that non-dairy milk touches. This is not a big deal if you frequent non-vegan cafes like Starbucks and are used to cross-contamination, or just don't care, but I simply expect more from an all "vegan" place.

And yes, that is a great little stretch of restaurants there, from Rasoi to Garden Grille to WildFlour, vegan nitpickiness aside... Pawtucket is pretty frickin' great. :) But I am disturbed by the BBQ place and the self-cannabalistic pig as well... YUCK. I am, however, tempted to take a picture of it and post it online somewhere, so people can see how messed up meat-eater logic is. Or something. :P

All the baked good are definitely vegan. Someone asked this while I was there yesterday. They said the only dairy available in the shop is for some of the beverages.
