The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale is approaching - April 23 through May 1. I don't see one planned yet: http://www.veganbakesale.org/veganbakes ... where.htmlLet's do it! What cause do we want to support? Who has access to a sweet venue?

I'm down for that, but as for causes/venues, I'm not sure. A local cause of some kind. Me, I'm all for supporting a women's shelter or something, but I'm cool with anything at all.

I'd like to be involved, but I've never participated in a bake sale before, so I'm not sure I'd be much help with logistics.

You know I'm down. Mr. bap's been wanting to do something for Farm Sanctuary, but of course we'd be open to other causes.

I'd love to help out with this. It is the same time I'll be studying for finals, so I can't commit to a lot at this point, but I'll help out as much as I can (even if it is just dropping off baked goods, helping for an hour or telling every single person I know that they have to stop by).

Ok, for real this is the 3rd time I have tried to post a response to this thread! I am definitely interested in doing this! I will be more than happy to help organize, get the word out and bake! Let's seriously do this. I have an idea on where we can donate to right here in Mass: http://sunnymeadowsanctuary.weebly.com/This sanctuary is run by 2 vegan animal activists, Helen and Steve, they also run MARC: www.massanimalrights.org As far as a location, I have no ideas right now but I am sure we can sweet talk somewhere into letting us set up some tables. I can also reach out to my blog friend Manda who is with VegWorcester as well as Evelyn from BVS to help get the word out. They also might have ideas on where we could go or have members that are willing to donate goods/volunteer. If we decided to donate to Sunny Meadow I am sure that Helen and Steve would be more than happy to spread the word as well. Even if we go with another organization I am sure they would still spread the word to the MARC members!

Where are bake sales usually held? The only one I've seen recently was at the school where I went to vote. I have to say, that was absolutely genius. Standing in line early casting my vote, why yes, I'll have a muffin. (This was pregan, so that was a non-issue.)

What if we had it at a farmer's market? Would that be possible-I think there's one in Copley during spring/summer?
Other than that, maybe somewhere in the prudential mall or some other widely traversed location?

I like the idea of picking a local place! The animal sanctuary is a good idea. Heading Home is another organization I like, though not animal-related. Keep the location ideas coming! The easier to get to, the better. We had one in Allston last year that went well but I had trouble convincing some people to go because it was too "out of the way." But it may be challenging to find a spot that doesn't require a rental fee.

Maybe we can look into churches in the city? The Arlington Street Church (right by the Boston Public Garden) has space to rent for $100/hr, which we might be able to negotiate down since it's for charity: http://www.ascboston.org/contact/meetings.html

We could also maybe look into coops or small markets?

I wonder if we could do it on the Common? Or is it just for licensed food carts?
Maybe the natural food store in Central? Or that green area in harvard square just in front of Peet's?

Hmm, I'm not sure about outdoor locations... we could be rained out (or hell, snowed out, this is New England). Or it could suddenly get hot and we have melting cupcake frosting everywhere.

I was thinking visibility But if we can find somewhere indoors, that would be good. how about we all brainstorm and try to come up with at least 2 places each, indoors or out, post them and then contact them to find out if there would be any fees involved, if we need to pay up front, how many hours we could be there, how much space etc etc and post our findings so we can start narrowing down, weighing pros and cons and get something secured We should try and stay as cheap as possible so we dont have a lot of out of pocket expenses but still be as visible as possible. Sorry for the massive run on sentence but im ppking on my phone and being lazy about grammar.

Good idea, though I think we should pick a charity first so we can tell these places what the bake sale is for. Do you folks maybe want to have dinner sometime next week and so we can talk about this in person?

I'd be up for baking something! I'd love to try to contribute more to the planning and whatnot, but I'm an hour outside Boston (that doesn't seem that far, but I never seem to make it in there) and I've never done a bake sale. I will most likely be able to bake though. I really really want to make cupcake kebabs (something I saw on here once!). I'd think any place that gets a lot of traffic would be good. I saw pictures of one in SF last year that was set up on a sidewalk (I think?) and I was envious that it was warm enough for that. Also, as far as places to donate, there is Maple Farm Sanctuary in Mendon!

Dinner is an excellent idea! (i also still have soycurls to give you b!) we should def pick a charity first and then start reaching out to places.
I work til 5 so i can meet up anytime after that anywhere in the city. Next week is completely open for me!

I am open to any charity/location/having dinner to discuss. It'll be my first bake sale!

I would love to help bake and plan although I'm awful at organizing things! That's all I could commit too since my Canadian fiance is moving down that week (woohoo!).
