So my husband is in the market for a new tattoo, and we're having trouble tracking down anywhere with vegan ink in Chicago. We can totally do other areas in Illinois or even Indiana, Eastern Iowa, or western MI too (his family has a vacation home in South Haven, so we're pretty mobile here).

You guys got anything?

I didn't ask about vegan ink when I got mine done, but I got a very large side piece done at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago, and I think everyone there is so ridiculously talented. I would look at their artists' portfolios and call and ask about their inks and if they don't already have vegan ones, if they would be able to get some, because that shop is so awesome! (My artist's name is Jason Longtin, he's great, but like I said, everyone there does such amazing work.)

Hullo! I do not have tats, however I'm pretty sure that Metamorph studio on N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago will do vegan ink! Most tattoo artists will if you ask, even if they have to order the ink. I originally had an appointment at A+, a dude there does all my friends and their tattoos are amazing, and he did not want to use vegan ink but would if I insisted on it.

...and I see now that this was in July so it may be a moot point now ;)

Thanks! I actually found a guy that already uses vegan ink, he's in Lockport, which works out since it's closer to where we're at, plus he's dating a friend of mine, and his work is awesome. I'll keep Metamorph in mind though as another option for sure.

Check out Hawk's Tattoo in Galesburg, IL. My husband has always had his done by Ed, who--by happy accident--has always used vegan ink (black Kuro Sumi ink, that is). Best to check before you go, though!
