I'm looking to make some like minded friends. Maybe set up a meet-up type group, just trying to see how many vegans in the area would be interested!

Hey Smash008! I'm in a suburb about 20 minutes away from Detroit. I would be interested in a meetup eventually, but I'm over my head with work and wedding planning right now. Speaking of Detroit though, Seva Detroit is super rad.

Cool, good luck with the wedding, and congrats!! :) I've not been to Seva (I'm still somewhat new to the area) but have been interested. I'll have to drag a friend out with me. My favorite vegan spot is Cacao Tree Cafe in Royal Oak. It's so delicious and kind of an addiction :)
I'll try to plan a potluck or something as soon as I hear from more people, hopefully it can become an ongoing thing.

Cacao Tree is quite yum, and be sure not to miss Inn Season Cafe a little farther up 4th street!
And I will indeed be at Veg Fest tomorrow. It will be my third year attending and it looks like it will be a great time.
I know there are other Michiganders (Michiganians?) on the PPK, they may not be as active as I am though. Also, a thread search for "Michigan" will show you some more general threads.

I'm in north Royal Oak (though I'm currently trying to escape Michigan, so I'm hopefully only here a few more months). I was at VegFest today, I was the one walking out the door loaded down with a bit of everything.

I live in Ferndale. I'm always envious of people who live in cities with PPK meet-ups, so it would be great to have one here!

Hey dudes! Detroit vegan meetups sound awesome!

Has everyone been to Easy Like Sundae on 9 Mile? because they totally have vegan soft serve. So does Sweet Earth in Royal Oak/Birmingham!

Well, that's super awesome! I didn't think they had any options for us. How's the topping situation?

I've been there a few times and they only had vegan vanilla ice cream. I'm not complaining, but i prefer chocolate/vanilla swirl from Sweet Earth. In other great Ferndale ice cream news, Treat Dreams finally reopened and their dark chocolate peanut butter is even better than i remembered!

ETA, i just get Oreos, but i think they have a decent topping selection.

Just bumping to say it looks like Detroit Vegan Soul finally opened! I was so excited about this but they kept not opening.

Also now I have to check out the vegan soft serve. Although it's November so I may have to wait until next May.

So, been to Vegan Soul Yet? I'm going to Detroit tentatively this weekend, and would love to hit it up if I do. What did you think? How's the pricing, atmosphere, and servers?

Hiya, chiming in from Birmingham. Right, Inn Season, Cacao tree, also, Udipi on Orchard lake rd in Farmington Hills is an awesome veg indian restaurant. Whats up with vegan soul in Detroit? Have to google that, far out.

I haven't been to the restaurant yet, but I had their food at a few pop-ups before it opened, and it was phenomenal. I know that doesn't answer any of your questions, but I'd recommend going no matter what based on the food quality. I believe the dining room is pretty small, but the women who run the business are very friendly and cool, so I'm sure the rest of the employees there are as well.

Went out to Vegan Soul last night. Atmosphere and service were fantastic (though a little chilly if you're near the door on a cold evening), prices comparable to Seva I think (entrees in the $12-14 range—check out the menu here). Everything was damn good. I had the okra stew, BBQ tofu with potato salad, and the apple crisp. The only downside is that it's an inconvenient drive from Ann Arbor.
