I'm coming to Milwaukee this weekend with my daughter to visit Marquette University. I've visited the veganmilwaukee website to find vegan friendly restaurants but none of them seem to be walking distance to Marquette area. We won't have a car or much money for cabs. What is public transit like in Milwaukee? I didn't look up EVERY single restaurant on the site; did I miss one that is near Marquette? We are willing to walk a bit (1 mile) in cold to get to good vegan friendly restaurant. Thanks for any guidance.

the first place that popped into my mind was alem, which is further east on wisconsin ave (maybe about a mile). delicious ethiopian food and tons of vegan options!

i don't use public transit a lot but there are definitely tons of buses downtown that should be able to get you where you need to go. the east side (the most densely vegan-friendly area, ha ha) is really just a short trip from downtown.

I went to Alem for dinner on Sat night. It was delicious. I had the veg sampler dinner.

I also went to Comet Cafe for brunch on the day I arrived. The bus from the airport went very close to it. I had pancakes that were huge.

I loved Milwaukee.

Not a food question, but maybe someone local can help: I have this great condition picture of my grandparents on their first date that I want copies of but I'm looking for them to be on similar paper with a matte finish, etc. anyone know a good place that does that kind of thing?

That is good to know, does this mean all vegan pay tribute in toward the direction of Milwaukee wherever they may be?

How, many of us Milwaukee vegans are here?

I'm going to try a place on Oakland. I will update with how it turns out...

There are a fair number of Milwaukee vegans. There is a meet up group that I think is still going on that includes some PPK vegans.

I remember bluedawg from the old ppk. it has been a while since I have been here. Moved from the Bay Area and it has taken me a while to get settled. I am anxiously awaiting the next vegan meetup here in Milwaukee.

Where on Oakland are you trying?

hey dudes :)

so just as an fyi for you ppk insiders, the milwaukee vegan meetup is still in existence; we've just undergone a bit of change in leadership, and we're working out how we'd like to do things moving forward. we had some slick ideas for the next meetup, but they've temporarily stalled while we wait on the venue (soooo much phone tag), and meanwhile we're working on a plan b. so hang in there, please and thanks!

Yeah, I need to get back to meet up. Always yummy and fun.

I went to B&L Photos on Oakland. I should get the pictures in a few more weeks.
