I kill every plant that I breathe near, but apparently Shae has not inherited that lovely quality from me. His grandparents (my in-laws) were staying here in their rv, when they left they put Shae in charge of their millions of plants. He's obsessed now. And I'm AMAZED the things are alive and producing food! Exciting!

Does anyone know what these peppers are? My MIL bought the plant at the farmers market from a woman who just kept telling her how hot the peppers are, but didn't know the name. Some of them are turning red, but most are turning purple. Strange.

Oh! I meant to add that he's so proud of himself that he picked up our old vegan kid blog and wrote about it http://vegankid.blogspot.com/

Go Shae! That is super cool.

I googled "black round chilli" and came up with a few like tepin which looks similar with the double stalks and round chillis and some of them are just called purple or rainbow. Maybe jewbacca will know.

Those are called 8 ball chilies. No, I made that up, but shouldn't they be? I am so proud of Shae and his garden. Not that I have license to be proud, but I still am.

I get so excited when kids get into gardening. Heck, I get excited when anyone wants to garden. It's one of the best ways we can stick it to The Man. Yay, Shae! How awesome.

Aaaaaand ,what is that pepper? I believe that it is a black pearl--so Isa was pretty close. What tipped me off was the description of some of the peppers turning red and looking at the foliage change color on the leaves. The peppers go from blossom, to green, to red, to a very dark purple that almost looks black. The foliage ends up purple as well. I could be wrong, but I think I'm right on this one, unless we have a pepper nerd lurking in The PPK Greenhouse:

What a great story! And your kids are so cute! Shae is looking so grown up (probably all the responsibility of caring for that beautiful garden!) <3

Ahhh that was Shae's guess (from extensive googling), but we weren't sure because the foliage isn't black. The tips of some are though. Very cool. Thanks Jewbacca!

FYI- peppers can cross breed if they are planted too close together, so it may be an accidental hybrid!

Shae's been bringing me bunches of tomatoes!

We're going out of town this weekend and my parents are taking care of our dog & cats for us. Shae gave them 30 minutes worth of watering instructions for his plants. Good luck them them if we come home to any dead plants.
