I have a tiny roughly 12 by 8 foot yard but I try to make the most of it.

Here's some boxes I built last year:



The far one has peas, the middle one has romaine lettuce, arugula and radishes. The close one so far has only spinach. Flowers in the front of the boxes. The weather has been too crappy this year to plant much else yet.

On the right in the shaded area by the fence are some type of potato that grow back every year. They were here when we moved in and I've never eaten one...not sure if they're okay or what.



Here's where I'm hoping to train either cukes or melons this year. Those are tomato seedlings in the buckets. You can see the very edge of the boxes in this photo. This is really my whole yard!


In the summer I fill my steps with potted stuff like basil, chives, cilantro etc. i have some strawberry starts in the baskets up top but they are too little to see from this angle.

We got a fence in that time and it's amazing not to look at the parking lot.

Looks like you have a decent variety packed into your space! How do your strawberries do in pots? I've always been curious and tempted to grow some...

I've grown seedlings in pots & they did alright but I've never grown them from seed.

Previously I've had great luck with them in pots, but this year I am trying everbearing instead of june-bearing...so we shall see! The variety I belive is Tristar which was recommended to me for baskets! :)

Cool, I shall keep that in mind for next year. Good luck with the ever-bearing berries!

I LOVE everyone's gardens! This one is super cute! I encourage everyone to look online at all of the awesome garden possibilities for small spaces. Yay vegetables!

A little garden update....
Following what must be the most disappointing spring and start of summer weather-wise, I am finally confident that temperature will stay above 65 F so I finished planting/transplanting everything.



The first box has the cucumbers I finally got to plant, the long melon seedling to survive, and successive plantings of baby spinach. It's hard to rotate crops in my yard because of the size...there's only one good place for a trellis! However, this adjustable bamboo one has served me pretty well once you train your plants up there.
The second box has romaine lettuce, arugula and pole beans (just now sprouting). The buckets have tomato plants.
The third box has peas, chives and dill. There are a couple baby strawberry plants in between the second and third box.

Not pictured: compost pile behind the bush on the left and the strawberry plant in the hanging basket that I'm sure is on it's way to an early death. I severely underestimated how much water it needed up there in that tiny container. Boooo.

Hi Muffin-Tuffin, your mystery potatoes are just a bonus crop. It's hard to find all the potatoes when they're dug for final harvest, after all the foliage dies back. Sometimes people will harvest a few baby potatoes earlier, which begin developing around the time plants start flowering. Any potatoes left behind will sprout and grow a new crop of potatoes in subsequent years until they're all dug or weeded out. They're fine to eat, so enjoy!
