Oh and right now, we have 2 campsites booked. Enough for 4 tents plus bergedy's hammock (or others). I think we can accommodate everyone so far but if anyone is on the fence, let us know.
So far we have: Vantine + 1 (1 small tent) Linanil + 1 (1 tent with room for 1) Friday Bergedy (hammock although Friday may steal it) Jilly
possibly Pandacookie possibly Joyfulgirl possibly Ms Bean possibly Pi possibly Louzilla
Lycophyte I assume isn't camping?
We also can bring a 4 person tent for people to share.

Oh and I didn't edit fast enough but also let me know what days you want to camp. Right now, we have one campsite Friday to Sunday and the other Friday to Tuesday. It is easy enough to add days though because weekends are the busy times.

Pi. wrote: How did I just now see this thread?!? I'm done with school and have gobs of vacation time saved up! I want to be there sooo bad this year! Is there some FB thingy I should know about to keep up with the plans??
I'm looking at flying down. If I did that would I need to rent a car, or would someone be willing to pick me up and shuttle me around? I'm looking at the Asheville airport, not the farther away ones. Airfare is reasonable right now, so I'd like to book it soon!
Lycophyte (I almost typed Bryophyte!)... would it be totally miserable that time of year to stay and actually hike the week before or after?
I have a full set of camping gear, hammock tent included. And doubles of a bunch of things if someone needed something. I've never flown with my pack and gear, but I think I can make it work... by shoving it in my larger suitcase or something and leaving the stove fuel at home.
Sorry for all the questions... I just got really excited when I saw this and realized it might be possible this year for me to come!! As Lilanil said, it shouldn't be too bad...a lot of the AT is at high elevation here, so it could easily be getting into the 50s at night up there; it could get up into the 80s and be hot and sunny on the ridgetops but its really not so bad. You'll be fine! Were you thinking of hiking the Smokies? Somebody could drop you off past Fontana and do the killer hike up to Shuckstack! Its awesome! And there could be blueberries and huckleberries up there 'round that time. So many huckleberries on the AT up toward Shuckstack. Anyway, yeah...I do love the camping, but it seems a weird thing to do when I live so close! If there are extra tent spots maybe I'll do it and if there aren't then I'll stay home. I might have to sneak out the trail if its after hours, but other then that! I don't think I'm gonna be able to take off of work though, because I'm taking days off to do school...though I think I'll have the Sunday off anyway (purportedly for school...hehe, but I can go Monday and Tuesday to make up for skivving off that day).

If I am there I am demanding that we shoot a vegan camping rap video. Start writing now and bring your sleeping bag bling.

How many cars can we have at each campsite? I can't remember. I know we are going to upset the camp hosts again this year. It's inevitable.

2 cars per site but I believe we can park them elsewhere in the campground if we go over the limit.
Yes, we will annoy the camp hosts but what you going to do?

I'm still uncertain. Now, I'd just be down for the weekend without extra time to hike. A possible week-long trip to europe just came up so I'd rather use the time for that!
If I do come, I won't have a car and I'll have a hammock. If that helps with the campsite planning at all. And I'll do whatever days are easiest for someone to give me a ride to/from :) Flights are a bit on the high side for a weekend... I'm going to do some searching to see if I can find lower.

Or to droppin' the vegan raps. And I still haven't gotten around to applying for the temp job at that festival, so I don't have any other obligations... I just need to decide whether or not I can afford it. fork.

damnit. I just realized this is two weeks before I go to PDX. I really shouldn't be spending more money. I'm going to have to sit this year out again, boo.

thx! we're definitely leaving for florida on the 14th, so i was very loosely wondering if i could do the 11th to the 13th (if the husband has time off - i don't want to stick livi in the car for 4 1/2 hours each way before driving her to florida) ALSO vantine, it's ironic you're coming here as I'm going there :D

You can also try Rhapsody, a vegan baking co-op or the Drunken Monkey, a coffee/sandwich shop which has a lot of vegan food. They also have: soy, almond and hemp milk.
