I am planning on having much tempeh at Rosettas. The Hop is the place that made my espresso milkshake, yes?

Yes, your Espresso milkshake was The Hop. After going there a couple times with panda, I like it more than my first visit.

The Hop is the bomb. Good good people there. Other dining out options include VegHeads, the new all veg drive thru. Firestorm always has a bunch of stuff too and mighty good brownies.

I will bring dandies and will make a couscous kale carrot salad thing to share. I would like to bang out a cake for Vantine but I will have to see what my capabilities are after tomorrow.

I bought a couple treats at TJs. I'll probably bring a chickpea salad and some other stuff for lunchy/snacky.

We'll need potatoes, corn,(we can buy there), hot dogs (I can bring), etc. Also, I've been doing a bit of seitan lately, maybe I'll do some sausages. I'll figure out some more this week and I'll post a more definitive plan.

Also, people can buy some stuff here if they don't want to or can't bring food with them.

The Hop makes their own vegan ice cream and panda would know better but think they have about 4 vegan flavors at a time? They also have some vegan toppings and also make vegan ice cream shakes.

I love the kale and mashed potatoes as Rosetta's and I don't usually like mashed potatoes so that is saying something. Plus, I like the kombucha on tap. My husband likes their Buddha bowl.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Both of those sound delicious. I'll google The Hop and get directions. Thanks!

Ice cream!

So today we went grocery shopping. I bought regular old hot dogs and a bag of Dandies on clearance. I found 'country style' potatoes in the freezer section and figured they'd go good with the tofu/chorizo scramble (I bought soyrizo the other day). I also bought some cereal and milk but they are unsweetened so if someone wants sweetened, feel free to bring.

Also, made batter for cherry sage, italian and chorizo sausages. I'm going to steam and freeze them tomorrow. I'm also looking at bringing a salad or 2 such as chickpea salad for sandwiches or maybe a faux egg salad. I also have the ingredients for chili.

I'm actually thinking maybe we should do chili/tater pigs on Sunday? Possibly salads, sausages and what not Saturday night and Friday is eating out. Saturday lunch is eating at campsite sandwiches. We could possibly hit some place in Asheville for Sunday lunch as well.

Items still needed:
Bread (for sandwiches on Saturday and possibly for the sausages on Saturday night)
Tortillas (I plan to buy)
Potatoes (for tater pigs)
Corn (if we want grilled corn)
Side dishes (I know Vantine mentioned some salads)
Any alternative breakfast options
Any dessert options

Anything else?

I am going to bring a salad. The nice patron who works at my local HFS is going to help me pick out some sort of raw, green salad thing that will keep so that we can pretend that we don't just eat junk food. I thought I would bring a beany grain salad as well. I will have some bread and peanut butter because my kid is a picky boy. (He does want to eat plain hot dog, however.) I am going to *try * to stop for some fruit while I am cruisin'.

I presume we will have tea. If someone really wants coffee, I have a lo-tech coffee filter thingy that can sit on top of a cup/thermos. We can also shop if we run out of things.

I thought we were just going to eat s'mores and ice cream?

Oh and I meant to say that I bought Cereal (Puffins and another one) but the milk is unsweetened. The cereal is sweetened though.

Oh and I'm still coordinating with Jilly but we will be moteling it somewhere in VA Thursday night, arriving in Asheevile noonish on friday.

I also bought some amaranth graham crackers. So someone will need to bring chocolate if we want smores.

I think that Panda and I can go on a chocolate run after I get there. I don't want to take a chance on it melting while I am crawling up to Asheville from alligator land.

I mentioned this to linanil but since I'll be taking a bus for part of my journey I'll be traveling light and not bringing that much food with me so I'd like to be able to get things like the corn and potatoes and such down there and be able to contribute to the food in that way. I could probably manage to pack something like muffins though to have along with breakfast.

Jilly!
I think we always have to make at least one food run because we forget *something*. Did you want me to bring extra plates etc for you? I am going to bring a big soup pot and my giant skillet. I will also have a cutting board and knives. Should I bring some plastic bowls and spoons as well?
Most of the food I am bringing will be more of the Toby-hates-all-food-and-wants-to-kill-his-mother variety.

I think extra plates and silverware would be good. We have extra and I think we still have some preserve stuff.

There are other items we'll need to buy in Asheville like avocados for sandwiches. I wouldnt worry about bringing food. The Megabus people might want you to share :)

Yay, super psyched to see everyone! Work has been crazy and I've had little time to post or keep in touch. Tonight, I'm hoping get organized for the trip.

We should be arriving late afternoon or early evening Friday. We'll prolly also leave sometime on Monday. linanil, I'll be sure to get you some money for the campsites.

Sounds like marshmallows are under control, though we may bring some coconut Sweet & Sara's. I'm mostly planning to contribute stuff that we need when we get there, so we don't have to worry too much about keeping food cold on the drive down. Of course, I'll bring some Dusseldorf mustard.

If I have time to snag some of the TJs vegan funions before heading south, I will. Is there any other vegan junkfood that I can deliver from Boston area for anyone?

Do we need crabby chips?

Love the pb oreo shake at The Hop, to add my two cents to that conversation. I love Rosetta's as well, but did also enjoy one delicious meal at Laughing Seed during my first veganstock. linanil, I though you dug the almond cheeze at Laughing Seed?

Also, I just want to say COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN and tater pigs!

Toby cannot wait to see all of you. He wants to go swimming with Friday and Lycophyte again. Mr Nil needs to plan on some rollin' down the hill.

In other news, I have 2 packages of speculoos cookies to bring. I have 2 big bowls, plates, flatware. I will bring a knife and cutting board as well.

Bergedy, you are not out of mustard YET?

Oh the almond cheeze at Laughing Seed was good. It is a good restaurant but I am so enamored by Rosetta's :)

I saw crabby chips the other day in the grocery store and thought of you. I figured you'd be getting your crabby chips.

Yep! We should drive up the parkway and hike out to a bald with a blanket and watch!

Also, I got graham crackers! Woo! Closeout grocery with nabisco grahams for the win!

I bow to your superior knowledge of the landscape, but would be psyched to hike out to a bald and watch the stars if the weather cooperates. The full moon will be cool, but also a distraction from the meteors though.

Yay s'mores!

Excitement building! We got our rental today and it loaded up with mostly everything.

I'm making spicy potato salad in the morning. We pick up Jilly in DC tomorrow afternoon, stop at a vegan restaurant and then onward south.
