Well everyone, I've had Veganomicon for years, and now I'm really excited about Isa's cupcake book (just got notified from Amazon it has shipped!). So of course I have to go to Whole Foods to get my ingredients, right? And they have such a great salad bar and wonderful root beer. What say we meet up?! I know there's at least one other person near The Ham here at PPK Forums. If you don't want to meet up, that's fine, but know I'll be weeping softly as I eat alone. :P

I'll be out there next weekend for a wedding, but I'm pretty sure I won't have time to meet up, though. Can you recommend somewhere I can grab lunch before the wedding? Somewhere fast?

It will depend where the wedding is. What area. Birmingham is pretty spread out and it can take 20 to 30 minutes to get from one side to the other even without traffic. Having said that, the local vegan/vegetarian haunt is The Golden Temple - run by a Sikh and staffed with dirty hippees - and we LOVE 'EM! The restaurant part is only open from like 11:00 to 2:30, so you have to get there fast. They have a daily special that's always different. All organic, all vegetarian, but not all vegan. The crazy weird lovable thing is that they've combined Indian and Mexican food in most dishes! So you can get a cauliflower and potato curry burrito. Or quesadillas with a distinct Indian flair! Tell me where the wedding is and I'll tell you more. The Golden Temple is downtown, Southside.

That sounds perfect! I am staying at the Loft, apparently the wedding is near there.

And Aloft is a hotel in Homewood. Does that help?

Invictus, that's *perfect*! You're just right over the mountain from The Golden Temple. You'll just hop over one street (to 18th) and go over the mountain, past Vulcan and when you get to the bottom you'll see a fountain on your right. Take a left and TGT is on your left. Parking lot is before the grocery/restaurant. Look for a yellow awning.
If you can actually schedule your lunch I would love to meet you. If it's a "grab it whenever you can" still give me a call about an hour and a half before and I could still probably do it! I'm never free on Sundays until late afternoon, so that's out. But Saturdays are great as are any weekday. :) I'll PM you my number if you think it's something you can schedule. :)

Anyone up for a meet-up right after the first of the year? I pretty much don't exist until Christmas is over because of work. I <3 Golden Temple, btw.
