So i just moved back here and wanted to know of any undiscovered gems. Ill list a few of my favs :-)

Little Jerusalem (palestinian) in the south end off 3rd by all the asian markets is awesome. I worked there for a little bit. Everything is made super fresh and is fabulous. The vegetable kallaya (?) is my favorite! Its a super awesome red sauce with veggies and vegan mujaddara. The falafel, hummus, salads are also great of course but i reccomend the more specialized entrees like that and the tahini sauce one. Theres a special section for vegetarians that can be customized for vegans.

I just started working at Roots (asian fusion) in the highlands and omg so good! The fried oyster mushrooms and the miso mushroom soup are so good. I love mushrooms lol. And almost anything can be make vegan, soy free, gluten free, etc. Theyre super awesome. Unless something like ravioli that already has the cheese inside, but sauces, etc can all be customized :-)

Also Kashmir (indian) in the highlands is great. You can get anything off the vegetarian menu without the cream which is super rad! They also have vegan breads and 2 vegan appetizers (the pakoras and aloo tikii). Im so happy he explained to me i can get the entrees without dairy. They still taste super fabulous too!

So anyone else have any favs? Ramsi's (global fusion), Zen Garden(asian), and Dragon Kings Daughter (sushi/asian/fusion) are also great.

Queen of Sheba is delicious, Dakshin has everything Vegan labelled. I like that Highland Coffee has vegan baked goods and that Heine Brothers has vegan jerky.

I didnt know Dakshin had everything labeled thats awesome. I tried going there once and they never did seat me after like 30 mins so i never went back. Maybe ill have to try again.

Highland coffees macadamia milk and coconut whip is awesome but they seem to have a hard time when i tell them no dairy when ordering my flavored drinks. They do a bit better than Heine tho, those people look at me like im crazy when i ask about flavored syrups etc...which is surprising to me since its in the highlands and id assume im not the only vegan. But whatever. Theres vegan desserts/baked goods at Roots/Heart and Soy also. Carrot cake and choc pb pie mmmm

Heart and Soy is my favorite, I always grab something there when I'm in Louisville. The ginger sandwich cookies are the best.
