Hello Southerners! My boyfriend and I are 99% taking a roadtrip through you in January. I know it's far away but I'm too excited (orrrr too nervous about finding enough food) and want to start talking about it now. I'd love to hear from you! Our rough guide is:

Memphis & Nashville, TN
Oxford, Miss (to visit a friend at the uni)
New Orleans
Houston/San Antonio/Austin or I'll cry/Corpus Christi, TX

1 - Do any of you want to meet in any of these places?
2 - What are your favorite places to eat in these cities?
3 - What cities in between these do you recommend visiting (we'll be driving)?
4 - What am I supposed to do when traveling besides eat?

Thank you for any advice you give! I know I'm early, so I won't be upset if this sits here quietly for a few months. (NOT.)

1. We could probably get food or something in Nashville!

2. Roughly in order of preference: Wild Cow Vegetarian (all vegan unless you ask for dairy cheese), Khan's Desserts (all vegan, also has a big breakfast/sammich menu), Woodlands Indian (vegetarian), Gojo Ethiopian (vegetarian combo, salad, & lentil sambussas), Ru San (Japanese, good selection of vegan sushi), Chuy's (great guacamole, margaritas, and pretty decent vegan enchiladas), The Pharmacy (two vegan burgers, beer garden, homemade fries/tots). There's a newer vegetarian place called Sunflower Cafe that I haven't tried yet, but other people seem to like them.

3. Is Atlanta on the way? I like Soul Veg!

4. Drink?! Nashville has a lot of music venues. You could check and see if any bands you like are playing on the date(s) you'll be around. Lots of good thrift stores in East Nashville. A few museums, if you're into that stuff. I find the downtown/Broadway area pretty hilarious at night. It can be fun to go gawk at people in cowboy hats and boots. Very touristy and honky tonk.

Yay thanks for responding! Boyfriend is thinking that he/we might not have time for Nashville, but I want to go so badly so I might go down before him if it comes to that. So many food options, so much great music, and soo many celebrities (haha)!
