takecare, I know it's a few weeks out, but I'd love to meet up when I get there! Any evening or weekend or afternoon works for me, and I'm down for food or drinks or whatever. I do have plans June 24 (Charlie Parr is playing at the Grey Eagle; if you're into acoustic folk/blues, look him up! Maybe join me if its your thing! I love to dance like a fool.) but that's my only plan.

Yes! I would LOVE to hang out! I need more ladyfriends in my life. I'll PM you my phone number.

lycophyte mentioned in another thread we should meet up for something soon. I'm free all days every days, so you people with the jobs should hash out a day that can work. I'd love to try Laughing Seed, or Plant if anyone is up for the pricier stuff. Or just ice cream!

I wanna hang with you guys! I'm almost always off on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including next Weds and Thurs. . . are either of those days good for others? Laughing Seed, plant, and the Hop are all good picks. There's also Bean, a newish all-vegan place that I've been wanting to try.

Yay, Miss D, I'm so glad to hear you'll be sticking around for a bit! I'll be out of town until early next week, but any time after Wednesday would be good for me. I try to work until 5-ish, but I could do dinner or treats!

How about Thursday, then, since that seems to work for both of you? What about lycophyte?

Holy crepe, the menu at Bean looks so good. I vote dinner.

Thursday works for me! Would 7:30 work for y'all? I have a Skype meetup around 6:30 with potential future roommates (I am moving to Philadelphia in a few months. . . exciting! And, great timing, making new friends as I'm getting ready to move. . . ha).

Also, Vegan Fest is a thing that is happening! w00t! http://www.bwar.org/events/veganfest/

Well I am going out of town this Monday for 2 weeks, so I can't do next Thurs. I will be back on the 20th. The following weekend though, a number of PPKers will be camping in town, so there is that!!

Lycophyte, I'd love to do something Sunday if you're free at any point. Maybe tea? coffee? ice cream? Perhaps takecare is free and we can all have some sugar?

Alternatively, I can do dinner tomorrow; it's the fourth, but I have no plans! I am intending to check out some festivities, but, what with the pup, have to be home before 9 (she's good with fireworks, but I'm not leaving anything to chance when it's dark).

I'll be staying home snuggling the dog tonight, too. What would you think about ice cream tomorrow night, also with Choirqueer, who is in town right now?

Ooh I want in on this if it happens! I'm having a technological blackout crisis, so my phone isn't really working and neither is my internet at home. BUT I'll be doing work at Waking Life for most of today... so send me a FB message if this happens!

All my technology went out- no Internet and my phone was dead, so I missed it, too.

I purchased a cookbook this weekend called Cafe Max & Rosie's, by cafe owners Max & Rosie Beeby. The book says the Cafe is in Asheville, but the book is from 2000. Does anyone know about the Cafe or if it's still in business? I can't find anything online. The recipes in the book look good.

I'm new to Asheville, so I'm still learning all of the places, but a quick online search on my end shows that it closed down in 2007.

Thanks takecare, that's sad to hear, but I'm glad they wrote a cookbook.

So just got back from Asheville which was fun as always :) I was a bit disappointed with the Bean but their fried pickles and fish sandwich (what my husband had) was good. So sad that Rosetta's is no longer open on Sunday. Also, the best ice cream we had was at the French Broad chocolate lounge, they had 4 flavors, brownies, truffles and some other things (their cafe also has vegan drinking chocolate but didn't go there)

linanil, what did you get at bean that you were disappointed in? I love bean and pretty much go there weekly. I find most of their stuff is hit or miss. Some is just blah but their veggie burgers and a few sandwiches are amazing. Since it is vegan owned and the owner is a really awesome guy I continue to support them as much as I financially can. They also go above and beyond to make sure everything is as vegan as possible which I love.

I'm curious too! I've only been twice, but I've been super impressed both times. (But I have ended each meal with the KittyKat Cake, which may be swooning my memory.)
