what are your favorite places to get BBQ? i'll be hitting most of the areas known for BBQ on my road trip and i would like to try the different BBQs where they live.

feel free to comment on places i won't hit. you're welcome to keep this as a permanent BBQ joint post. fine with me.

(but as for me, i'll be hitting nashville, memphis, fort worth, austin, houston, new orleans, atlanta, raleigh/durham)

i learned about BBQ revolution in austin. i'll assume that's the best place for austin and head there unless anyone suggests otherwise. thanks!

I live in Memphis and people here are crazy about Central BBQ. They do a portabella sandwich (ask for no cheese). There's multiple locations, but I've been told the one on Central Ave is the best. I'm not sure if any of the other BBQ places here have something vegan available.

Asheville has a few places with a tempeh BBQ, though it is sad because the sides are not usually veg. But I have heard that Moes has a tempeh BBQ and I know that Luellas has a tempeh BBQ.

it's been a month and a half since we got home. (i came home sick and then i hurt a ligament in my foot and just didn't feel like writing up any reviews while i was healing.)

i will say that i think my favorite might have been the simple smoky vinegar-y NC style from fiction kitchen in raleigh. it was really nice and basic.

I for some reason thought this thread was about BBQed joints. Like the smoking kind.

Carry on then.
