Any suggestions for a vegan getaway in any of these states? I have a friend who might be willing to go with me somewhere nearby for a couple of days, but I want to go somewhere that has lots of vegan eats at restaurants nearby and maybe some cool stuff to do too. I would LOVE to go to the beach maybe, but not sure what his plans are. Thanks for any input!

Asheville, NC!!! is definitely my suggestion. It's incredibly vegan-friendly--there are quite a few all-vegetarian/ almost-all-vegan restaurants. . . Laughing Seed, Rosetta's Kitchen, Firestorm Cafe, Vegheads, and Plant, and lots of vegan options in other restaurants. And lots of great stuff to do--hiking, kayaking/canoeing, ziplining, tubing, art galleries, concerts, hanging around downtown. . . just to name a few.

I was thinking Asheville, too. That doesn't help with your desire to go to the beach, though.

I also vote Asheville. But there are streams and dammed lakes, no real beaches. But there are waterfall swimming holes!
But for vegan eats, its spectacular!

I do love Asheville, but it's not really a vacation destination for me, more like a day trip. I hope to get to the beach in the next year, so maybe Charleston or Savannah would be the most likely spots. I think there are vegan-friendly restaurants in both towns.
