I was over at Planet Organic at lunch time and there were no Daiya wedges and no marshmallows :(
I did get some more vegan worcestershire. I wish Superstore would stock it because it's expensive at PO, especially as I usually forget that there is no plastic stopper on the top (as the non-vegan worc. has) and pour out more than I wanted.

Halifax PPK meet up sometime soon? I was thinking maybe in the New Year, when I have a bit more money to do something fun :)

Planet Organic has Dandies! They are $5.29 or $5.69, of course, but if you are craving some marshmallows... The sign said "limited time" and I was there today.
I bought some in Montreal in the summer so I am good for this year :-)

Braemar Superstore has Vitasoy chocolate peppermint soy milk for 99 cents. I don't know if it is just there or all superstores. They also have the holly nog but it is (I think) $2.99.
I am not a big sweet drinks fan but a bought a few - they would be nice hot, I think. If my son doesn't drink them all.

Ha, realized later that they are 99 cents because they are best before today. I am not worried about a couple weeks extra on a tetra pack, luckily.

I saw them for that price at Quinpool Superstore a couple of days ago and didn't buy any, and was there again today, and they only had the holly nog for $2.99. I hope they get more chocolate peppermint - I love that stuff!

P.S. Any suggestions on good stuff to send to my American swap-partner for the holiday swap? I've been trying to find dark chocolate Kit Kats but I haven't been able to find them anywhere - anyone else been able to find them in Halifax?

At least in Vancouver, the dark chocolate Kit Kats are no longer vegan.

I finally got over to Tian Phat Asian Grocery on the Bedford Highway. I didn't want to leave there was so much to look at.
I found coconut vinegar, vegan "fish" sauce, jack fruit in brine and tamarind concentrate. I forgot to get fresh garlic - one of my friends says it is very good there.

Jane's on the Common is closing today for good. Their coconut banana French toast was stellar. And that east meets west scramble. Best vegan brunch in Halifax. So sad.

Does anyone know if plain soy yogurt is available in Halifax anywhere?

I haven't found any plain soy yogurt that is not sweet. Have you tried the Amande one? I haven't had the plain.
Does anyone know anything about the new vegan restaurant opening soon, the Wild Leek?
I had to eat at Salty's again last week (work thing) and blech, maybe the food is good but the omni meals looked old-fashioned and boring. I had a blah and overpriced green salad and soup and was very glad I wasn't paying for it.

Yeah me neither. I haven't tried the Amande plain, but I like the flavoured kinds. The Amande yogurt is on sale at Planet Organic right now - the big tubs are $4.29 (they only have plain right now, but they usually also have coconut and vanilla) and the little individual serving ones are 2/$3. The plain kind is still sweetened, but I might give it a try - they're only sweetened with fruit juice concentrate, so I don't find them overly sweet.
I don't know much about it, no! Just that it's opening this month.
Yeah Salty's never seems very impressive to me. They do sometimes have vegan West African peanut soup as their soup of the day, which is nice, but I've only ever gone for work functions and been glad I wasn't paying.

Oh and I just figured out that Wild Leek is going to be where Gracious Indian used to be on Windsor Street.

I was at Pete's today at lunchtime for my mid-week mid-day stock up and found Field Roast celebration roast in the freezer. They have the field roast hotdogs too. I am not really big on meat like products but I bought a roast and will try it out this weekend. I am always hoping there might be something my kids will voluntarily eat. They are $10, but I figure there are at least four of my size servings in it so not too bad for an occasional luxury.
I am not a fan of Tofurkey roast so I hope this is better.
The best thing there, though, were beautiful big new garlic heads, and the avocados are 99 cents.
