Alright folks,
I am looking to move again--and this time I am both able to afford living on my own (I mean, within reason) and desperately want to! I've had excellent roommates before, but they are so hard to find and it's such a trial of a process I'd rather just skip it altogether if I can.
So if you have any leads or ideas for bachelor/studio or one bedrooms in the East Van area I would be so grateful. (Probably looking at March at this point.)
Thanks!

If you're like me and you like food, especially vegan food, then you might like Loving Hut Truck's philly cheesesteak. Great cheesy sauce and lots of beef and onions on a bun that soaks up that cheesy sauce.

Hey guys, I know this is a long shot, but Mike has been missing for almost a week now, and seemingly vanished without a trace! I don't know him personally, but I have friends and relatives who do know him....sad for everyone, and very troubling! Mike is 34 years old, 6'2", slim build. Last possible sighting in Pemberton, may be traveling with an unknown brunette femal. So please, keep him in your thoughts and be alert for possible contact w/ him, tell your friends! Thanks!

maybe I'm the worst researcher ever, but does anyone know how much stuff you can bring back from the states after a day of shopping? Not duty-free goods or anything, but like, underwear or something. Thanks team!

Technically you can't bring back anything within 24 hours that isn't exempt. That being said it all depends on who you get at the border, some people will make you pay duty and others will let you buy being hundreds of dollars over whatever exemption you have. You also can't bring duty free good across if you've just gone across for the day.

Meh, the only thing they really care about is booze and firearms. You can easily rip off the sales tags if you're worried.
ps...that Blaine border is ridiculous lax. They want you to shop in America! They let Josh back into Canada even though he's a weirdo Australian living in Amsterdam with all sorts of weird documents in his passport.

Soy House is awesome...eat there (but don't get the Banh Mi--it's just avocado and plain tofu in a baguette)!
Hit up Trader Joe's for salted chocolate covered almonds, cheap re-branded gardein stuff (even I like the mandarin chicken things!), frozen convenience galore, etc (check out the tasty eats from TJ's thread!). Oh and cheeeeap wine (though I guess you're only supposed to bring back two bottles). The co-op downtown has Field Roast, cheap-ass vitamins, various mayos, dressings, and cheeses we can't easily find here, etc. It's a really cute store and I always spend my remaining American dollars there.
I wanna come! :)

Corner Tandoori (4th/commercial area) is under new management, with a new name, and a new menu.
Went today...SO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS. GLUTEN FREE VEGAN PAKORA. DELICIOUS EVERYTHING. SO MANY CAPSLOCK.
I sense a lot of Indian food in my near future.

Okay, don't freak out like I just did, but the place I might be moving to (final interview/meeting with doggy today) is two blocks from sweet tooth cafe! Vegan cinnamon bunz all the time! Also my potential roommate runs a underground vegan bakery out of the place once a month. Things are going to get delicious.

I'm now expecting sweet tooth brunch meet-ups, since so many people are in the area. PPK potluck would be awesome, except we don't have a table and now I have to be a good roommate too instead of just doing things on the whim (I can no longer have 3am dance parties with my dog). Any tips to being a good roommate? I've never been one before so now I'm nervous.

Has anyone been to the Red Wagon? They have a pulled tofu sandwich but I don't know if it's vegan. They were on Diners Drive-In and Dives - for their meat stuff of course.

I went there and was told by a server that the bread isn't vegan, which is disappointing. I ended up having the tofu scramble (without toast) an it was pretty meh, really tomatoey

Thanks erindisaster, that's too bad, the sandwich sounded good and now I know to avoid the tofu scramble.
