I believe it's the second biggest city, population-wise, in the United States. So why don't these forums have a subforum or even a decent general thread dedicated to LA? Any Angelenos or other transplants, like me, here at the PPK?
If you're in LA, what are your favorite places to eat?

I used to live in LA and by far my favorite vegan place is Native Foods (all over Southern California) if you haven't found them already :)

I like Native Foods but am actually even more fond of Veggie Grill, Real Food Daily and M. Cafe de Chaya.

I posted this to the other Los Angeles thread as well, but it's worth repeating here.
I went to Madeleine Bistro last night! The food was superb, as usual over there (I only go on very special occasions, because it's also pricey). I found out though that the owners will be opening a gelato/panini shop (called Maddie's) on Pico, near the Westside Pavilion. The are hoping to have it open around Labor Day weekend. I can't wait to see what magical treats they'll conjure in the new place!
In the course of that conversation I also found out from some other customers at Madeleine's that Scoops has opened a second ice cream parlor on Overland and Palms. If you haven't been there, they have the most amazing flavors, four of which are vegan.
So, two new reasons for vegan ice cream lovers in Los Angeles to rejoice!

I see I didn't make it clear earlier, but my understanding is that the gelato/panini shop will be completely vegan.

I love all of Tony's shops: Mohawk Bend, Tony's Darts Away, and Golden Road Brewery. Not all vegan, but the vegan items are clearly labeled and they have a separate vegan prep area in the back.
My very favorite spot has already been mentioned -- Flore in Silver Lake. Yum, yum, yum. I used to live within walking distance, but not anymore. (Now I live near Doomie's! Which is delicious but very, very rich, so it's a special treat kind of place.)
There's a new pizza place downtown called Pizzanista that has vegan pizza by the slice! And Locali just opened a mini sister store downtown also called Localita -- they have any amazing vegan breakfast sandwich.

There is a Scoops on the westside too, on Overland just south of the 10. Rahel is good. There are three Scoops locations now, I believe. A third one just opened in Highland Park: http://www.yelp.com/biz/scoops-los-angeles-3

I recently tried L.A. Vegan Crepe on Robertson at Olympic and really enjoyed it. Vegan French food - AMEN to that!
Also LYFE Kitchen in Culver City has a separate (and extensive) vegan menu.
Shojin is opening another vegan sushi/Japanese restaurant this weekend in Culver City. (Super excited about this one.)
Rahel seems to always have the instant deals on Groupon (or maybe Living Social, I can't remember), so definitely check first if you're planning on going and save some coin.
The Seed Kitchen in Venice is also a nice little find.
And I really like the open and airy feel of the Venice location of Cafe Gratitude and they'll even make you a BLT (with coconut bacon) even though it's no longer on the menu.
Damn. Now I'm hungry.
