My only complaint about our whole trip and everything was the hotel. For what it's worth/future reference, I do not recommend that downtown La Quinta. Maybe it's the closest to Fiesta Gardens (?), but it didn't really seem exceptionally close, and it was pretty bad/loud (and expensive!).
Isa saw a roach!
eta: Everything else was super awesome.

The Clarion at 35 & Oltorf was suprisingly decent & there wasn't any Relays traffic between there and Cesar Chavez. I would stay there again. Made me glad that the Holiday Inn I stayed at last time was full. bluedawg wrote: hee, and i met allychristine! woo! she is adorable in every way, right down to the avocado earrings. :)
Oh, I sat behind allychristine during Isa's demo, then. Those earrings are awesome! I had a great time...but I bought too much stuff. :P ETA: I just realized I graduated to wearing pleather undies! woot woot

I'm the flush faced girl next to the friend who played on her cellphone the whole time (she doesn't cook but thought Isa was pretty funny). It was crazy packed! I was looking forward to the AC, but I think it was 95% offset by body heat. Still, 82° is way better than 88°.

What's up with Arlo's being closed? Next year, please submit your full 2013 schedule to us in advance so that we can make sure you're there :) Also, I heard that their power cord was stolen (which is common for trailers/trucks in Austin...grr), but then I also heard they were looking for a new location? I don't really know.

Arlo's relocated for SXSW, and then when they returned to their usual spot their cord was stolen. But I think there's more going on, too, because I know several people have offered to lend them cords until they can get a new one, and they're still planning on moving to a new spot. Crossing my fingers they end up at Cheer Up Charlies. It's wrong for there not to be an entirely vegan cart there.

If anyone stopped by the Upton's booth for samples that was me! (I was the girl one, my husband and I were there with our baby) Sadly we didn't get a whole lot of time to explore the rest of the festival and eat/buy everything we wanted but my husband did bring me one of Kristin's awesome cupcakes, and I saw Isa from far away! And I got a vegan Twinkie from Rabbit Food!
Can't wait for next year. We should be able to be way more involved since we won't have a newborn. :)

I think the camera focused on you! Yep. That's me alright! Simultaneously releived and disappointed that I wasn't making an utterly ridiculous face. mandycoot wrote: And I got a vegan Twinkie from Rabbit Food!
They had twinkies?!?!? How'd I miss that? No wonder there was a big crowd at their booth when I passed it. (thanks for the seitan sausage sample btw)

Thanks everyone for stopping by the Rabbit Food Grocery booth! We were slammed ALL DAY LONG. I bought some tot-chos from Food For Lovers booth around 1pm, and we didn't get to eat them until around 5. Every time I would try to eat a bite, another wave of people would show up! We sold out of Dillos (vegan twinkies) way early.
Best part of the fest was being next door to Herbivore and having little Ruby Hooten help us set up our table. She's ADORBS.
Worst part of the fest was that we were so busy, I missed all the cooking demos, speakers, and other fun stuff. Next year, we'll plan ahead for that!!
Sorry if I didn't get to say "hi" or talk to any of you!

I was there! For somewhat of a short time, as I was leaving for hawaii the next day and had to pack. I saw Terry's cooking demo and ate tons of samples. I don't think I know any of you ppkers in real life, although I met inmypies last year at a veg potluck in pease park. I've been living in Austin for almost 2 years and haven't made real life ppk friends! oh no
