does karmavore no longer have an online store? i received a gift certificate a while ago (i.e, last year, so it's probably expired by now) that i didn't use because none of the items i wanted were in stock. now, the website just gives details about their on-location juice bar and whatnot.

They are for sale. :( I don't think they are closed yet, so you can probably email them (info@karmavore.ca) and see if they will honour your gift certificate.

Sale aside, they are no longer a retail store and have morphed into a cafe/dessert lounge as well as a juice and snack bar in a temporary second location. The positive side of them no longer having a retail store is that it was because all of the "regular" grocery stores started carrying vegan products, though I can see how that would be frustrating for online shoppers.

I think it's a huge bummer because Karmavore were the first to bring hard-to-find-in-Canada items up North. I glare at the Field Roast sausages in my local supermarket because it was so much more enticing to save up, place an order, support a vegan business, and be super excited to receive an order. And like, I don't even really like Field Roast. So there goes my logic.

It's kind of weird that Karmavore hasn't made a peep about being up for sale--and that they just opened the juice bar like a week ago.

I got an email about the 'new direction', but not about being for sale (unless I missed that part, haha)

Someone found an online ad for a sale of a vegan restaurant in New West. It's strange too that they didn't mention anything. I don't understand how businesses work at all, but is it possible it would just change owners and stay the same? Maybe they did a little renovation to improve the sale-ability?

Man, poor Karmavore. From FB: Dear Customers, our building stands, but sadly both buildings attached beside us have fallen. We will be closed until we complete the process with insurance, health authority, and building inspectors. Our power was out for over 24 hours affecting our refrigeration, so all our product and ingredients had to be discarded. We do not have an ETA on a re-open date until getting through this process, getting certification to re-open from health authority, and insurance coverage to re-stock/cleanup. We will provide an update as soon as we know more. Thank you all again so much for all your support and understanding. Our hearts go out to our neighbors who have been so deeply affected by this.
