Thanks for the offer, ExpiredSanity! It might be best to leave it at Almira's (if that's cool!) since that's so close to where I'll be staying when mishka gets off work. (and I'm hoping not to drive much in Vancouver since we're heading to Portland early the next day) I think I can make it for that early...you guys just let me know!

wait. mishka has underground visitor parking. I'll give you the info, but just buzz the boy when you get there and he can let you into the parking garage.

hm...I'm a maybe! I get back from San Diego at about 2am on the 24th so I'm not sure what my energy level will be like the evening of the 24th. I'm planning on still being full from all the vegan eating in San Diego anyways.
Also, went to Mexico for a week and ate like a queen! check out the recap on the blog, link below :)

Oooh today's ethicaldeal is $15 for $30 worth of Wild Rice - this is my excuse to finally try them! :D

Go get coupons if you want. You could just go to ethicaldeal.com but if you wanna give me referrals here's the link to do that:

Are we still on for Bandidas at 5 on Wednesday? I don't want to be all alone and sad.

Since we're leaving super early for VVC the next morning (where we'll meet the T.O.F.U. people anyway), vijita and I decided that we're not going to go to the event. Plus, she's getting in from the island a bit later now, and I'll have to go home and pack for the trip.

Have fun, you guys!

Money is tight for me right now and I have an early interview in Surrey the next day so I'll probably have to sit this one out as well. Bandidas eludes me yet again.

Yeah, so sorry Almira! I'm not getting in to Tsawwassen until 6:45. It's the only direct ferry I could reserve. I wish you all the best in Edmonton and I'm really sorry I couldn't see you before then! <3

No problem. I'm super jealous of you guys going to VVC. Also, I might be eating at The Reef tomorrow - suggestions?

Okay, so I was told at the Reef on Saturday that the chana (chickpeas) are cooked with margarine that contains whey, so even if you get the chana salad without the dahi, it's not vegan. Bummer!

I would suggest jerk tofu...whether you have it as the meal with the coleslaw (vegan), or in the roti wrap (insanely filling but good!). I also like it added on to the green salad.

Apparently the jerk tofu burgers aren't vegan, which sucks. I like it as the meal with the coleslaw. And sadly the...whatever they're called (round delicious balls of pastry goodness that come at the beginning of the meal) are also not vegan. Sigh. So much potential at the Reef, so little follow through.

Burgers? Do you mean the roti? Because the roti wraps are definitely vegan. I've never seen burgers!

But yeah, I agree. So much potential. At least the jerk tofu on its own is amazing. I like it best on the green salad. It sounds boring but they give you a humongous salad.

The main street location said they could make any of the breakfasts vegan by subbing tofu for eggs and leaving off the dairy, but it sounded kind of boring. At least the hot sauce is awesome.

Maybe they only have the burgers in Victoria? I've never eaten at the Reef in Vancouver, just the Vic one.

What a load of crepe. I've been told by servers at the Reef that the Johnny Cakes were vegan.
Forgot about the Reef and go to Calabash Bistro instead, way better.

I was pretty meh on Calabash, but I can't remember specific reasons why. I do remember that their doubles were disappointing, though.

I'd love to try Calabash, but I'm not the one picking the place tonight - we also live 5 minutes walk from The Reef.

Is anyone going to any Fringe shows? I am here to pimp my friend's show, because she is AWESOME and the show is about animal rescue. I'm going on Thursday at 5 (tickets are 1/2 price!), but there are other dates. Info here: http://katiehood.com/ and you can buy tickets at the box office on Granville Island or online at the fringe fest site.

I am planning a trip to Vancouver in November and I have a big long list of restaurants to try, but I don't know where I should stay!
After a very disappointing interaction with a "vegan friendly" bed and breakfast, I am out of ideas.
Hotel recommendations? Any particular parts of town that are better/worse? Nothing super fancy but it doesn't need to be super cheap either.

Oh my gosh, if I could afford it (I say that because I'm broke...it's actually quite affordable), I'd stay at the Waldorf! You can have your very own Nuba!
