Is everyone free some time this month for our Dessert-Fest? I'd be up for it any weekend in December!

I have no free weekends this month, but I look forward to hearing all about dessert fest and hope to join in on the potluck fun in January.

Unfortunately, I'm out in December too...and most of January as well! Wedding countdown: T-14 days!

Next event I'll probably get to make will likely be our Valentine's (?) potluck :-)

Happy Holidays and New Year to you all. Can't wait to catch up once things settle down here.

I'm in for January/February plans on weekends or weekday evenings!

I've been commuting to Chicago the past several months for work and my girlfriend, but it's looking like I'll be living here full-time starting next month. I want to do things! Let's be friends!

Yay! Welcome AutumnVegan!
As you can all probably tell, December got away from me. But January is looking promising...

Woohoo, welcome! We've been doing potlucks and restaurant meetups pretty regularly; hope you'll join us!

Anyone free to get together in the near future? Maybe we could do a Valentine's themed potluck in February like last year? Just a suggestion, I'm open to anything. I'm free the next few weekends if anyone wants to get together, maybe for a restaurant meetup, in January?

Hi all!

I'm back after my life hiatus and would love to get together soon. I will be out of town next weekend (Feb 8th) but would be very interested in a Valentine's Day Potluck the weekend of the 15th or 23rd if that works for anyone? (or later in the month or early March works too for me for a non-v-day theme :-))

HAY!! I know this is super short notice but I'm going to be in town for a conference in a week and a half, anyone wanna plan a meet up? I haven't been in chicago since 2009 so I'm completely out of the loop (PUN INTENDED) but I'd love to hang out and eat vegan food!!

I've got time on the 15th or 16th if any of y'all wanna hang out?? maybe the diner or somewhere else? I'll go anywhere that is accessible via public transit!

Yea, I could probably make the 15th or 16th too! Saturdays I work till 11:30 and then would have to haul myself in from the far flung burbs, so afternoon or evening would be good. Sundays I'm usually free all day. I just had a dream last night about our amazing Harvest pot luck back in November. I'm so ready to see fun PPKers again and share yummy food!

Sounds great! How 'bout we meet for a restaurant meal and can pick a date for our next potluck when we're all together.

Any restaurants you all are craving lately? Or, not a restaurant, but the giant Whole Foods on North Avenue might be a fun place to eat & shop at.

I'm game for anywhere I can get to via public transit! I'm staying downtown at the conference hotel, so i can hop on to most of the lines pretty easily.

Ohhh, I totally would go! I teach a couple of painting classes on Saturday; my second one ends at 5 in the loop. So I could do a Saturday dinner thing, or Sunday brunch. Actually I have Sunday brunch most weeks at the Logan Square Chicago Diner anyway... it's also right by the California blue line and only a 30 minutes or so ride to Union Station.

Sunday brunch at the Logan Square Diner sounds perfect to me to. I like that I can get there by public transit. Do we need to make reservations if this is a big group? Do they even take reservations?

It turns out next weekend is Mike's Dad's birthday. I'm waiting to hear now which day he wants to celebrate and hoping he chooses Saturday so I can come :-) I will let you know as soon as I find out!

is this location as crowded usually as the other one is? do they have a big brunch crowd? it'd probably be a good idea to call and give them a heads up that a larger group is going to be there around that time, even if they don't take reservations. We did that when I had a going-away get-together with ~8-10 people at the original location like 5 years ago and they were pretty accommodating!

also, what time are you guys thinking? I think they open at 10 and any time after that i'd be game, really. 10:30? 11? actual lunch around noon?

I'd prefer closer to noon, over earlier, but it's not a requirement. I've only been there once before, and I heard that they don't get as crowded as the original location, but I'm sort of out of the loop. I'm sure those who live closer and get to go more often can judge better.

eh, let's just roll up and see what happens! how about like 11:30 or 12? I could even do later since it's only like ~30min away from union

I don't think they take reservations, but you're right that giving them a heads up that lots of prople will be coming would probably be nice. They definitely have more room than tha halstead location, so i never see people waiting as long for a table. I mostly sit at the counter so i really never wait anyway, but it seems like sunday brunch crowds can be really hit or miss- sometimes there are tons of people and sometimes they are pretty empty. They still do the same thing as halstead though where they often won't seat you until all members of your party arrive. You can wait at the counter and get a coffee or something in tbe meantime though.
