That's a good idea! What time sounds good? 1 or 2pm? Later?

I still have no idea what to make. I've had vague ideas of something lemon-y, or maybe something with asparagus. I definitely need the extra time to decide!

I thought I wouldn't be able to go this time since I haven't had a day off in what feels like eternity, but wonder of wonders, I think I can do the 29th! I just need to be in the Loop by 8:45 pm to teach a late night painting class. I don't mind trekking out to Rhizo, or pepperpot's would be fine for me too.

Maybe 2pm? That way we all have plenty of time to cook & commute.

I am thinking of making Dreena Burton's Raw Strawberry Pie, plus this Veggie-Full Spring Potato Salad

Yum, that all sounds delicious VeggieNextDoor!
2:00 is good for me, but maybe we should meet at pepperpot's this time so that clare has time to get to her class that evening.
We have a very healthy SCOBY. If some besides clare wants some, let us know, we have at least enough for 2.

That sounds like a good plan. SCOBY!

Will garlic scapes be available yet by then, you think?

2:00pm works for me too, and it looks like I'm hosting! I'll send directions to everyone who's commented in this thread. If anyone else is planning to come, post here or pm me!

Ok, I am definitely going to make the asparagus bisque. I will not make the salad since VND is making a salad. I'm torn between making spring rolls or a spring vegetable quiche. I make really good spring rolls, but maybe they are too Thai to go with what everyone else is making? Does anyone have a strong opinion on this?

Pepperpot, lemon sounds nice. Maybe you could make a lemony dessert, although a lemony savory dish sounds good too.

Claire, it's probably a few weeks too early for garlic scapes, but if you can get them, they are delicious for sure.

I think spring rolls sound great! I don't think they're too Thai.

I still have no idea what to make either!

Thanks for the directions pepperpot, I'm excited! Not sure what I'll be making yet either but I'm thinking I'll go to the Dill Pickle and see what local stuff they have. Probably not too much spring stuff yet since the weather refuses to cooperate and get above freezing or stop snowing, but maybe I'll do a late winter/early spring thing like something with celeriac and hoop house baby greens or something? We'll see what they have!

Hi all - I am so sorry and sad to report that I won't be able to make it. I have been home from work sick the past two days and don't think it would be a good idea to bring my germs to the potluck :-(

I hope to see you all soon! And please post a recap after so I can recreate the hit recipes at home :-)

Diana

Oh, poor Diana! Get better soon!
This means we have no desert, unless someone else has desert planned? If no one else is making desert I will throw together a chocolate strawberry pie.

I stopped at the DIll Pickle today to see about their local produce, and ended up with late winter/veeery early spring selections, of course! I'm going to make a black radish and celeriac slaw. I hope it's not awful... (If it is I have a backup plan, don't worry.)

Oh no! :( Feel better soon, Diana! You'll be missed tomorrow.

I've been experimenting again with Artisan Vegan Cheese recipes, so I wound up making asparagus and gruyere mini quiches. I'm also going to attempt a brie en croute. And ataulfo mangoes are in season now, and the store had some nice ones, so I'm going to make a mango tart.

Hope nobody minds, I invited a friend to the potluck. She's not vegan, but very veg-friendly and interested in raw foods. She'll probably be a little late, some time after 2:30. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I'm glad you invited a friend pepperpot; the more the merrier!
Strawberry pie might be more than I can do as I have spring rolls to wrap. We'll see what happens.
PSA: Remember to bring containers for leftovers!

Thanks for coming everyone! The food was all amazing, and it was great seeing you all! Oliver was zonked out for the rest of that evening - apparently begging for food and barking at Rhizo's poor husband (sorry! and thank him for being such a good sport!) is exhausting.

I posted pics in Food Porn!
