On Friday morning three of us (my vegan coworker and another coworker who is omni but is into vegan food) are meeting up in the city for breakfast at 9am before we head off to Madison for a beer fest weekend.
The plan was to have breakfast at Chicago Diner, but it doesn't open until 11. Another option is Fritz Pastry, but my coworker says she wants "a big breakfast."
I'm cool with Upton's, but my friends are "meh" about it. Maybe Delicious Cafe, but it's kind of far off the expressway. Any suggestions I maybe haven't thought of?

Ohh, I realize the time has totally passed for this particular outing, but in the future Pick Me Up is open 24 hours on weekends! They have a couple of good vegan options and plenty of nonvegan options for breakfast. Yeah it's in Lakeview and not particularly close to the highway, but way more worth the drive, in my opinion, than Fritz Pastry. Which is delicious, but yeah, not a hearty breakfast place.
Also, Wormhole in Wicker Park has Fritz Pastry vegan donuts there every day, so if you're just looking for a donut and coffee in the future and that's more on your way, that's always an option.
