Post subject:  Breakfast/Working spot w/in easy commute to airport?

I'm heading to Chicago for work, flying red eye, and arriving early tomorrow morning, without anywhere to be until late afternoon, when I have to be at the airport hotel where my work meeting is happening. My original plan had been to head into town to get some breakfast and then do something touristy, but I've taken on a new project, so now I need to find a place to get some work done (so, I need wireless, a power outlet, and a not-too-raucous atmosphere).

Can anyone suggest either a single place or places close together where I can get breakfast and get some work done?

Thank you!

O'Hare has the best vegan options out of any airport I've ever been to in North America! If I were you I would stay put until I needed to get to the meeting. As fun a city as Chicago is, having less than a day to do something is pretty intense if you are super busy... But as you know I'm not a local so hopefully someone else can prove me wrong. :)

There's tons of explicitly vegan stuff at the airport but I still dream of the salsa at Frontera!

I agree with Vijiita. You can take the blue line from the airport to Damon street and then easily walk to Handlebar or a bunch of other places in Wicker Park and have coffee at Wormhole but it's going to be a 40 minute train ride there and back.

What's at the airport?

I know I've eaten ok at O'Hare before, but I can't think of anything in particular. You definitely wouldn't starve or be forced to eat only dry bagels.

Yeah it will take you probably a little over half an hour each way, but my suggestion would be take the blue line to the California stop and eat at Chicago Diner! It's about a half hour train ride, and the Diner is less than 5 minutes walking from the train. I've used their Wifi before and while you don't see many people on their laptops in there during busier times, I'm sure nobody would care that early on a weekday.

Unfortunately I don't think they open until 11 on weekday mornings though, so not sure if that would fit into your schedule. There's also Cafe Mustache a couple doors down if you need to kill some time by drinking too much coffee. It can get kind of full in there, but mostly with lots of other people doing work on their laptops and stuff too, not raucous.

Thank you!

Looks like I'll need to get back to the airport hotel earlier than I'd thought, so I'm hanging out here. The hotel apparently has a juice bar, and I just had a pretty decent breakfast, so I'll try to get lots of work done here today so I have less to do on Sunday and Monday morning.
