Hi there,

Just FYI for anyone who might not know, Hot Beans is closing. I was in today and was told for sure by end of Feb, but it could be as early as mid-Feb, they're not really sure yet. This is super sad news. :(

I get it, the owner has Porter House now, but I really love burritos.

If I remember correctly - the business was still currently for sale? Which means someone could pick up the torch.... Eh?

The TVA posted on FB that another veg restaurant is going into the old Hot Beans location - fingers crossed that it's good!

I hope it's Tex Mex. I don't get enough good Tex Mex!

Speaking of which, the new Rancho Relaxo menu (they renovated months ago) is quite good and they still do all of their veg dishes vegan.

Really? I was told that Rancho hardly has any vegan dishes anymore, which made me sad because I used to love that place. It was one of my favourite restaurants in the city!

They removed a large portion of their menu but still have at least a quarter to a half vegetarian items. They will sub out cheese or sour cream still, they just don't have it written on the menu anymore.

Also fried soy ice cream is still a thing.

Really? I looked at their new menu online and didn't see the fried soy ice cream on there.

Will they still do the Daiya cheese and Tofutti sour cream or do they just take off dairy cheese/sour cream and that's that? I'm conflicted because I know someone who said the menu has hardly anything vegan at all anymore and they hated the new Rancho, but you are giving me hope!
