Anyone up for a meetup with our pooches? Could be for a leash walk (not my guy's favorite, but he'll take it), a hike, at a park, a backyard, whatevs. You don't even need to have your own dog, you could just come and get your dog "fix." FWIW my boy is super friendly and definitely an active one :)

No dog here, but I'd be up for it.

(There's a dog park right by my house?)

What kind of dog do you have? Amos is a doxie and I really only like to take him to the small dog parks. He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder with big dogs... he'd probably be just fine after a few minutes (or not... he and Pinko's dog couldn't seem to figure out how to get along.)

hmmm, he's a large German Shepherd. I'd say 95% of small dogs act aggressively towards him. He doesn't react aggressively, he seems to think it's rather amusing (I *swear* you can see it in his face......impy, he is!). But even so, small dogs often get quite worked up, which is no fun for them, I'm sure. He likes all dogs, but really loves to play with med-large dogs that aren't dainty ;)

And he loves all people...and cats....and hamsters.....and, well, everything.

We have the sweetest old-lady pit bull in the world, but she is not a dog person at all. She's not aggressive or unfriendly - not even remotely. She just doesn't really get other dogs. Although she spent a lot of time with a friend's tiny tiny fluffy dog and seemed to enjoy it. We might end up coming to a doggie meet-up without a dog - we love dogs and other vegans!

Yeah, I'd be worried that Amos would get his nose out of joint and not be able to calm down. And they probably couldn't play together really effectively (though the doxie we had growing up used to like to "play" with my sister's GSD-St Bernard mix... mostly it was little chasing huge around the backyard.)

We should do a meetup, though. We're overdue + lots of new people who aren't really even new anymore!

I'm putting in a plug for a non restaurant meetup. Restaurants are good and all, but a more active meetup would be cool.

As long as "more active" means I can just stand there doing nothing.

Well, to be fair to Amos, my dog is kind of a crasshole.

Soda would probably love a playful dog meetup, but she's become a terrible car traveler (as in non stop, ear splitting barking from leaving the driveway until arriving at the destination, no matter how long the ride) and I don't really relish the thought of bringing her over.

Aw, poor Soda. Amos wasn't exactly contributing positively to the relationship either.

Well, poo.

If anyone changes their mind, let us know. We're always up for a day of dog fun.

Okay, but for reals:

Any time any of you dog-having people want to get together so us non-dog-having people can hang out with your dogs and you, just say the word.

Even if it's just one dog-having person, I'm down.

Me too! If I'm in town and there is a dog that I can pet without freaking the human out I am there. Also, meeting new people is fun!

Then this can happen! I live pretty much equidistant from both of you. The only reason I know where the City of Subdued Excitement is is because I was staying at a hotel there a couple of weeks ago and someone was complaining about all the noise and barking dogs and the guy at the front desk just shrugged and said "hey, we're so laid back that we're the city of subdued excitement."

KJ, you can pet my pup all you want and I promise to not freak out :)
