What's the best vegan-friendly Mex food in the Seattle area? We've been living here 4 months and I haven't had anything reasonable yet! I do like El Chupacabra for the atmosphere and their salsa is pretty good... but you can get better chips at any supermarket and the food (at least vegan fare) is mediocre. I'm dying here, this is critical!

El Borracho in the market and El Borracho del Norte in Ballard are pretty good. You can get nachos all soyrizo'd and daiya'd up, and they have two or three kinds of vegan tacos. The potato poblano ones are tasty. They house make four varieties of hot sauce. If you're the margarita type go for the El Cheapo; it's just as good as the pricier house margarita but (wait for it...) cheaper.

Mexico in Pacific Place has a "vegan menu," which is really just selections from their menu tweaked slightly. Their charro beans are vegan friendly but unfortunately their rice has butter in it. Veggie fajitas without all the dairy stuff are a pretty good option and their salsa is really good.

The Yard in Greenwood is Latin American inspired food and they are good about knowing what vegan means. They are more of a bar, though, and the menu is small. They have nice roasted veg tacos and house made salsa. The bean dip is not vegan, which I wish they'd change.

Gotta second El Borracho. Love that places. LOVE those nachos, especially when you add papas y poblano. Just ate some yesterday and am very excited to eat the leftovers soon. They have vegan mushroom tacos, too, that are delicious.

I like Mr. Villa in Lake City, though their chips are nothing special. Their rice has chicken stock but their beans are clean. I think I mostly like it for their sangria, honestly.

We have a definite lack of good vegan Mexican here, though. :/

Thirding El Borracho. Yum.

But yeah, we don't have a ton of great Mexican options. Sadly.
