Have any of you been to Hot Cakes? http://www.getyourhotcakes.com/molten-chocolate-cakery/ Someone at work was telling me about it and that they have a vegan lava cake with coconut ice cream. Of course ever since then I can't stop thinking about lavacake.

I've been. It's delicious. There's only like one vegan thing on the menu, but it's delicious. I think they use whipped coconut cream, not ice cream, but I could be wrong. There is almost always a line. You can buy the cakes in the freezer section of places like Vegan Haven, PCC, Central Co-op, et cetera.

The owner of Hot Cakes is opening an ice cream place & juice bar. She's billing it as 100% plant based, even though she uses honey in most of the ice creams, so I have grumpy feelings towards her and both her restaurants.

I got Pizza Pi on Saturday for the second time since the new-new owners, and I was pretty disappointed again. I got my usual white lightning, but both the onions and the mushrooms were as close to raw as you could possibly get on a baked pizza. I'll give them one more chance, but if it's again on this level, I'd rather get pizza from Razzi's.

We went for Pi Weekend and it was just one mess after another - missing toppings, burned pizzas, more missing toppings, more burned pizzas. I know Pi Weekend is bonkers and this was their first time, so I let it all slide. I do know they are very responsive to making their mistakes right. I do hope they settle in soon, though.

That vegan Hot Cakes thing is pretty incredible. I think you (I) have to be in the right mood for it. It's so rich.

Yes, I did a bunch of permitting for Araya's so I knew they were coming. The new one is downtown... I will try to check it out this week to see if there's a buffet.

I just ate at Bombay house in Bellevue yesterday. Real good! The vegan labeling is good and they have a bunch of tofu dishes.

I ate there a couple weeks ago. Yeah, it's really good!

But we were near the end of their lunch hours (we arrived around a half hour before they were closing) and people seemed antsy. They did not want us to linger.

Ha. That's funny because my sister and i were there for dinner and it wasn't crowded at all and we were talking after we'd paid the bill and they were like that with us as well.

We just ate at Homegrown for the first time. There's one close to us and they have a TLT sandwich, but I assumed the aioli wasn't vegan, so I never bothered going before. It turns out all of their sauces are vegan including the pesto, so you can sub tofu for meat in a lot of the sandwiches and get any of the sauces. The TLT with roasted garlic aioli was really good. I'll probably try a tofu pesto sandwich next time.

outside of seattle, but is there anywhere to eat in Leavenworth? I'm going there for a work meeting and Jason's coming and we're bringing the dog, so that should be a very interesting weekend. Should we just bring all our own food?

I was in Leavenworth a couple summers ago and I ate at South for one dinner, it was good but kind of pricey. There was also a place with a veggie dog (I think it was a Tofurky brat of some kind), but I don't remember what it was called (not helpful). Looks like Munchen Haus has Field Roast though!
