RE: Wikileaks preference stuff: I can only assume they're making reciprocal agreesments, and then banking on "shooter's party" types not numbering all the boxes whereas Wikileaks voters are smart enough to number all the boxes. but they can't say that publicly, because they'd be saying "people that vote for you are stupid"

So, are we all just too depressed to say anything?
I know I am.

Except, maybe, what the fizzle is with WA electing someone from the Sports Party, and Vic electing someone from the Motoring Enthusiast Party? I feel like I'm in some kind of surrealist nightmare.
Maybe everyone else was too, when they were filling in their ballot papers?

huh, in Victoria, the Wikileaks party, AJP and the sex party all got more votes than I'd have expected. that's pretty rad. not enough to be meaningful, but totaling ~100k (for reference, the Greens got ~250k)

But did you hear about the AJP's fork up in the ACT? Because of a grudge against the (Green) ACT Municipal Services Minister who signed off on the roo cull, they preferenced Liberals and Labor first. Because of those numbers, it looks like they've gotten Liberal Zed Seselja across the line. Never mind that Simon Sheikh is a great advocate for animal rights issues and ran the ban live export campaign at GetUp, and Zed has never done anything for anyone.

I'm so looking forward to leaving the public service in a couple of weeks. Having a new boss that went on TV to call the Coalition deceitful Tories is just a bonus.

Yeah, there were a bunch of theories going around that maybe they were a Liberal front to channel the hippie vote- but no, it just seems like they're children playing grown-up politics and having no awareness that poorly-thought-out actions have real consequences.
