Oh yes, it's a beautiful venue. And, probably near Legoland? I'm just too impatient to drive that far to eat. I was able to talk Mr. Sz into it on my birthday when were at UCSD for an appointment, but now I fear I'm on my own.

I do go to the Culver City location, though, since it's near my campus.

San Diego will be a great place to come back to! I'm envious you are going to Europe.
Alas, Mr. Sz retired last week, so I am no longer a military spouse. I have super mixed feelings about this!

Enjoy all the good things about it!

So we're finishing up our move and have some semi-consumed bottles of alcohol (I'm bad at confirming the veganity of liquor/liqueurs and sort of assume they're all basically artificial and nondairyish, although I do have Chambord that I found out contained honey after buying it, oops) and unopened foodstuffs.

Anyone want? We're in Normal Heights and basically need to clean the place out before tomorrow for the move-out cleaners (but can put some stuff aside for a couple days). Sorry for the total lack of notice.

ETA: there are also a few veg-leaning cookbooks, though in the interests of full disclosure they're ones I don't use and that's why they're on the donate pile. But hey, takes all kinds to make a world...

Theres a new vegan donut shop in Mission Gorge called Donut Panic, they do vegan donuts and other treats I think mainly on the weekends. I have not tried it yet but reports have all been positive.

I had those donuts today...they were so amazing. I ate them all like a greedy greedy little boy. Much like Agustus Gloop

Stone Bistro?

I rarely eat up in that area and I am so mad at Del Mar and their horse killing I would not give the town or its people a cent right now.

Hi Adam! I think there was already a local screening of Cowspiracy, but I was wondering if the meetup group would like to try and get another one going: http://www.tugg.com/titles/cowspiracy

Hmm, we could maybe do it at Peoples Co Op? They allow free use of their meeting rooms for members.

Not San Diego but! I posted in the wild wild west subforum. We'll be driving to Bullhead city, AZ and maybe Laughlin, NV. If any of you guys have been or have done the drive and have any tips, let me know. I know there is absolutely nothing from San Diego to Arizona but you never know. (Oh and apparently I forget the drive more than I know, I guess we drive through Riverside to get there so it isn't all that bad without nothing in between)

My husband and I drove from LA to Vegas to the National Parks in Arizona (I think Zion was the first we stopped at) and onward a few years back. Food wise it wasn't always fun. We got by on things like all veggie subs from Subway, plain baked potatoes, salad with vinegar and oil for dressing, though there were a few bright spots, like a Japanese restaurant in Flagstaff, AZ that served a delicious eggplant in miso and another stir fry, both of which they told us were vegan. We also did some grocery shopping and relied on our cooler, bringing things to put on bread or crackers, like Justin's chocolate-hazelnut butter and canned hummus that we found in the Kosher section at Pavilions.

Do you have a smartphone? VeganXpress is an app that tells you what's vegan on the menu at chain restaurants and fast food joints. We didn't have that on our trip, but it might have been helpful.

Also, will you be camping? We didn't but if you are, you might be able to cook or grill something good for yourself.

Well we will be able to cook some stuff at my aunts house maybe but my aunt/uncle are kind of weird. I plan to pack bars, hummus and some other stuff.

And I have less than a week until my trip! Day 1 of trip is making tamales which will be a highlight (oh and yeah I will be taking tamales with me to my aunts to eat).
