Marks & Spencer is coming back to Amsterdam again, they will open tomorrow in the Kalverstraat. They have a list of all their vegan products: http://health.marksandspencer.com/uploa ... /vegan.pdf
Hopefully the store in Amsterdam will sell lots of those products!

So, I didn't see them on the list, but their sesame bagels appear to be vegan!

Image

(I will say, they're more a bready bagel than a chewy bagelly bagel, but they were still good toasted, with melted margarine and Sheese. Omnomnom....)

One of my RuG friends MIGHT (!) be bringing some back for me this weekend -- she goes to Den Haag almost always to see her boyfriend. Otherwise, I think we should ask them if they would ship elsewhere in NL, because, dude, daiya -- but dude, 6 hours ina train.

Mr. Cornelie and I made a little trip to Den Haag last Sunday. First we had lunch at the Vegetarische Snackbar near Hollands Spoor. David had the 'karma' shawarma pita (it's huge!) and I had some fries with mayo and a kroket. We also shared a bottle of very nice rhubarb-blackcurrant soda. The food is delicious, they make their own vegan mayo and the kroket tasted just like I remember the meat kroketten that I used to secretly love.
Then we walked to Veggie4U and stocked up on cheese, including a very expensive bag of Daiya. I tried the Daiya on some lasagna tonight and it was very good, I'm so exited!

Lutin, you could also order Daiya online from Germany. You'll have delivery costs, but the Daiya itself is cheaper than at Veggie4U. http://alles-vegetarisch.de/Aufschnitt- ... se,cat-182

The DopHert vegan catering company in Amsterdam is doing crowdfunding to open a store/cafe. They need a lot of money, so invest if you can. Amsterdam needs more vegan shops! The business been very successful so far, so you should get your money back with 12% interest in three years time. They also offer cute goodies for their investors.

If all goes well, the shop will open at the end of this year.

New vegan webshop in BE! http://www.arfshop.be/nl/1-home

They have a different range of products than Veggiedeli (including household and personal products)! They don't ship cooled items outside of Belgium, but we can always do a big group order in advance of a meetup in NL or BE if NL people see stuff on there they can't get in NL. (Oh, and the Belgian Veganaise is awesomesauce!)

Have you tried either product yet, Emilie? If so, how are they?

No, not yet. I'm not at any one address long enough to take delivery of a package. I'll likely place an order when I'm settled in my new home and starting to stock the kitchen.

I'm really curious about those fish sticks. I've had the redwood ones and liked them but have only seen those at the biomarkt in Amsterdam. I should check if they have the delhaize ones in my delhaize. Let us know what you think (also about the chocohummus)!

Verkade has a new type of chocolate. Puur with caramelized almonds! It tastes pretty good, although the nut pieces are on the small side and I didn't really taste the caramel. Like all Verkade chocolate it's fair trade too.

chocohoumous - The Verdict: 8/10

loved the texture, it's not too sweet, and kwatta-ish medium chocolate strongness. No weird chickpea taste (just the texture -although at first sight it made me think more of a chocolate mousse)

I love Verkade stuff! Some of their cookies are vegan and seem like they would be great for making cookie crusts for pies.

A few weeks ago I made the lime-raspberry cheesecake from VPITS and used Verkade Nizza coconut biscuits for the crust. It was very good.

Dudes! So I swung by the teeny tiny health food store here in town yesterday, and when I went through the doors I had to double check I'd walked into the right store because they've totally remodelled and are now twice the size and look so much more modern! They seem to have expanded their tofu/tempeh selection and they've got three flavors of tofutti cream cheese and I'm excited to see if they start carrying other exciting vegan cheese/meats! (There was a lot of space to be filled and it's clear they're waiting to get more products in, including a fresh fruit/veg area that they didn't have before.)

But the most exciting thing is they have a freezer case and in the freezer case, I found soy cornettos and magnums from Naturattiva!! Four different varieties! Not cheap, but still! W00t!!

I tried the (mini) magnums last night and sooooooooooooo good! So much better than the rice milk based ones, imo.

Ooh, and today I discovered that they have nooch! When I went there before the remodel, they had never heard of "edelgist"! Even though I have a huge stash that I brought with me from NL, I made sure to buy a box so they know there's a market for it!

Emilie, I prefer not to mention my location on a public forum (i'm weird about privacy), but it's a smallish town in East Flanders. But the sense I get from talking to the woman working there is that the ijsjes from Nautrattiva are/will be getting broader distribution in Belgium. I mean if this place has them, a bigger, more well stocked health food store should have them too. (I'm totally assuming about this and could be wrong, though.)
