Ok, looks like I can get to Zuid/Midi and back on the metro during my lunch break. Getting excited!

AH now has Alpro soygurts made with almond milk and coconut milk (50-50%; actually Alpro's "50-50" which is more "98-2" but whatever).

Yes! I just had the coconut one for dessert. I like it, but it's a bit on the sweet side. I also tried the Provamel version, which is similar but unsweetened, so it has nice tang and works with savory things. It's my new favorite to use with curries etc. Too bad Provamel is not fortified with calcium.

I don't really like either Alpro option. I look out for the Provamel ones at EkoPlaza (?).

Yes, I found the Provamel yogurts at Ekoplaza. Other organic stores will probably have them too.

Thanks for the tips on the previous page - I had a really great time in Belgium and ate some fantastic food! In Brussels I just ate at the Greenway in the station - very good fast food, I thought, especially the mock chicken. In Ghent we had a delicious feast at Avalon and some fine buffets at Komkommertijd and Lekker Gec.

We extended our holiday to include a couple of days in Amsterdam and had some really incredible food there. It started off pretty badly actually, with a meal at TerraZen (great food but abysmal service, which seems to be in keeping with the reviews on Happy Cow), and then a fairly unappetising breakfast the next day at Alchemist Garden. But we had an incredible afternoon tea at Koffie ende Koeck near the Westerpark, a decent breakfast at Dophert (sold as an 'English breakfast', but really, really not!), and an amazing feast at Betty's vegetarian kitchen. There were a few other places we just didn't have time to visit, so I definitely want to make a return visit at some point!

Glad you had a good time here Jenny! In Amsterdam Dophert and Koffie ende Koeck are my favorite hangouts. If you do come back, try the seitan sandwich at Dophert. Soooo good!

By the way, I completely forgot to post about my new project here. I started a website with products reviews for 'normal' (accidentally) vegan products. It's called Gewoon Vegan and has more than 100 products already: https://gewoonvegan.nl/

Thanks! I did ask them and they shared a link on their facebook page, which got us a lot of views. Don't know if there's a link on their website yet, but they have so much info to share with participants, this might not be a priority.

And as a complement to Cornelie's new blog, I've started a blog about vegan products and services south of the border! (I didn't actually create it with Gewoon Vegan in mind, and it'll be somewhat different, but if it can be half as informative and useful as Cornelie's blog, I'll be happy!)

It's called Vegan Stuff in Belgium. Original, eh?

So cool! I love your writing style. If I can be half as funny as you, I will consider it an accomplishment. I'm big on informative and useful, but humor not so much :P

Aw, thanks, Cornelie. I feel the same way about how well-researched your blog is! You're so thorough! I absolutely don't have the patience you do for that!

I posted on my blog about the good food we had in Brussels and Ghent:

https://herbivoresheaven.wordpress.com/ ... -in-ghent/

Hopefully this will help anyone else who's travelling that way.

So I was hopping through the streets of Ghent one day when something caught my eye... a Holland & Barrett! Went inside with nervous anticipation. But no. They don't have the stuff that they have in the UK. Did a quick search and yeah, this:
http://www.retaildetail.be/nl/belgie/b-drogmetica/item/21506-essenza-wordt-holland-barrett

They have Nakd and Trek bars, Panda liquorish, grains and dried fruits but not like say... a fridge section with Fry's and stuff. Sadface!

That's a pity! I knew they had been taken over by De Tuinen, but Essenza and De Tuinen are really similar so I didn't expect a big change. But yeah, it would be cool if they extended their selection to be more like the H&Bs in the UK.
