Hi guys! My hubs is stationed in Kosovo and has to take a 4 day (but he's not allowed to go home, boo). He's looking at Skopje, Sophia, and Budapest, and I was wondering if anyone had anything lovely and helpful to share about any of these places.

Thanks!

Budapest is beautiful and quite vegan friendly. I've never been to the other cities.

this is way late, but it actually appeared in my google search so I'll chip in with what I know so far!

Sofia is really forking great. maybe it's not for everyone as a city, but you certainly won't go hungry :) so much vegan food, and a lot of it is really high quality. last night's meal at Soul Kitchen was up there as one of the best I've ever had. I went to Vegan Kitschn for lunch and it was amazing and soso cheap. great atmospheres, a+ food. would recommend Sofia to anyone :)

I'm off to Skopje (and on to Pristina, then Belgrade) after this. I know Belgrade is pretty scarce, and I'm expecting the others to be pretty slim on options too. I've loaded up on snacks now though, so fingers crossed.

I'm late, but in case anyone else is going, Budapest has some good vegan places, including a Hungarian vegan restaurant and a Hungarian vegan bakery, pretty cool! I wrote a vegan guide with pictures based on my last two experiences in Budapest if you're interested! Link: http://vegannomnoms.net/2013/09/vegan-budapest.html

Have fun, would be interesting to hear more about the other places!

Kosovo update: if you're ever in Pristina, go to Baba Ghanoush. it's a little hard to find, and it's only vegetarian (plenty can be made vegan), but hoooly fork it's ever so good and pretty damn cheap..€10 had me totally stuffed. it was basically my idea of a perfect dinner. argh.

to find it: it's across the road from the Grand Hotel, down the little alley next to the Metro on the right.

You totally should! I'll be there the whole month of May for more "research". Any other PPKers there, by chance?!
