Have you tried playing around with TVP? I made something similar yesterday by rehydrating a few TVP filets, chopping them up (I didn't have granules), and mixing in chopped onion, a bit of soy sauce, a touch of oil and nutmeg, and enough flour and breadcrumbs to get the mixture to stick together and shape into balls. They tasted fairly similar to göttbullar to me. The ingredients for the "real" version are:
Vatten, sojaprotein, vegetabilisk olja, lök, salt, förtjockningsmedel: (karragenan, metylcellulosa), potatisstärkelse, socker, naturliga smakämnen, torrjäst, kryddor, lökpulver, vitlökspulver och maltextrakt.
I suppose I could have added allspice and garlic.
