RandiJM wrote: Wrong??? I've been waiting for that for a year! It looks AMAZING. :P Come on! It's a seriously legit cast, based on Channing's real-life pre-stardom experience, and directed by FREAKING STEVEN SODERBERGH. It's going to be awesome. I knew I could count on you to not shame me for wanting to see this :o) Had no idea that's what it's about. I just saw the commercial a couple of times and thought, hey that actually looks good. I kind of secretly love Channing Tatum though. Did you see A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints? Maybe one of my all time favorite movies ever. His likeability factor went way up after that movie.

No I never got to see that! I'll add it to my list. And you get Magic Mike 2 weeks before I do, so lucky.

Its a must see! True story based on a book. Rosario Dawson, Robert Downey Jr., and Shia Lebouf all play really great roles too. And Dianne Wiest is soooo great in it! Gah, I love that movie.
Well, we will see if I get to view it in the theater. I doubt I can force the hubbie to go with me and so far I don't know anyone else who wants to see it. And you of course are not here right now.

When more commercials are aired I'm sure you'll find someone to go with. I don't know who (besides straight men) could resist.

Sherlock Holmes 2 Young Adult The Change-Up Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Dark Shadows Shame - far more depressing than I expected

Control. A biopic about Ian Curtis of Joy Division. It's entertaining, but it kind of made the man look like a dick. Love how they shot it in black and white, too.
Dark Crystal. Saw this movie for the first time since I was like 4 years old. It scared me then, and I still find it disturbing. Those Skeksis are not kid friendly. And the fact that they are puppets just adds to the creepiness. Not as fun as Labyrinth, but still glad I watched it.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - It was OK. It wasn't brilliant, but it wasn't terrible. One of the plot "twists" is super obvious straight away, and there are a bunch of things that they do to kinda force you to remember something for later (like slow-mo on a kid getting whipped so you see where he's hit). It was super cheesy, but enjoyable.

We saw Pusher (a remake of the 1996 film, which I've not seen) tonight at the Film Festival. It was pretty good. I kinda liked that the main character was actually not a good person, yet you still kinda want him to come out ahead. And I liked the ambiguity of some of the plot points. The director was there for a Q&A - we should've asked if that was intentional or if they just forgot to address it (or ran out of money). The Q&A was interesting too. Apparently they shot the club scenes in actual, working clubs because they couldn't afford to set up a stage and pay 1000 extras.
It's released in October in the UK, but I'm not sure when it's released in the US (though it's being released through the Weinstein Company's newest arm - I forget what it's called).

Circle of Friends - I was on an Alan C.umming kick, and I'd never seen that one before. It was OK. The Irish accents were pretty bad, though.

Saw 'Rock of Ages' today. It wasn't as bad as all the critics have said, but I was so frustrated with some of the editing (or lack thereof) and the terrible pacing of the non-musical scenes. Ugh! I wish they let me edit it. Or that they let ANYONE edit it, because it could have been good.

I watched Sullivan's Travels last night. Loved it! I have a classic movie star crush on Joel McCrea that's carried through a few movies now and is growing.
