Not reading because I may end up seeing it... Just posting to ask... Was it scary? Would it give my wimpy butt nightmares?

Alien is the scariest movie I've ever seen. This movie had one single scene that was horrifying, but not scary. Go for it!

Loved this movie, don't really get the hate. Alien(s) had dialogue just as cheesy (or cheesier) ("GAME OVER, MAN"). I didn't have a problem following the story or logic behind motivations and actions. My favorite flick of 2012 thus far.

One of my major problems with Prometheus is that it completely lacked atmosphere, which is one thing that Alien does really well. Also, Prometheus shares with Alien something that has always bothered me about Ridley Scott's films: the female characters are plagued with baby/daddy issues.

I liked it while watching it, but once I started thinking too hard I didn't like it much anymore. Starting with, oh let's just land on this unexplored planet, we don't know if anyone's there and traipse around to see what we stumble on. No survey, fly-by or anything. Like not using those survey orbs BEFORE landing? I think I just like a little more science in my science fiction lately.
I did like the idea that the planet was seeded by extraterrestrials, and really BY them, their dna/body.
The aliens that came out of each person seemed to add a new dimention to the final alien queen and how the next generation is "born", like each new species it was in mutated it, and that final full sized alien wouldn't have happened if it hadn't come from an 'engineer'. The ones that were like snakes did something different, and the stuff that the one guy drank did something different from the one she was "impregnaged" with.
And David was just acting like a kid with a new chemistry set, not looking at directions just saying 'let's see what this one does'. Then again, I haven't seen Laurence of Arabia since a kid, so maybe he took something from that other than the hair?

This kind of has some answers. http://www.prometheus-movie.com/communi ... topic/7023Basically, it's explaining all the different goos and seeds and the xenomorph. At least according to the person posting it.

For me, the most nagging question is why did the guy scientist boyfriend person go from scientist to total bro in 5 seconds flat? I mean, fine, be reanimated and flame retardant, but don't go from Carl Sagan to Pauly Shore in a single scene.

Most of the critiques I've read/heard call for more exposition, but I don't it's necessary. Maybe when the director's cut comes out in a year folks will be satiated.

It was a bit hard to follow, but overall I enjoyed it. If anything I thought that less exposition would have been nice, instead of the little bits of explanation that made it a bit confusing. Maybe David Lynch should have directed it.

the bro'ing of boyfriend made complete sense to me. his existing parasites evolved and changed his behavior to make sure it gets placed into a suitable environment to continue it's lifecycle.
i mean look at toxoplasmosis (causes rats to be attracted to cats, because it can only complete it's life cycle in the digestive system of cats) and that other parasite that causes ants to climb to the top of the leaves so it's spores land on more ants. parasites are scary things.
you saw it climbing in his eyeballs, it was making it's way to his brain to do it's dirty work.

I felt that the first half of the movie was a prequel and then all of a sudden they were like "fork this shiitake, let's just do a whole new movie now but we'll keep the beginning and keep it in the Alien universe even though there is no need to," I mean I get that the giant alien creator people were in Alien for a half a second but there was no need for it to have anything to do with the movie.
I think that the reason it left so many questions was to make people want to see the sequels. I have heard lots of theories, such as Lisbeth (what was her name? Elizabeth Shaw?) is actually an android but doesn't know, which kinda makes sense with David being all obsessed with her.
I still don't know if I liked it or not. I think as a stand alone movie I wouldn't be impressed but I want to like it becase I enjoyed the Alien franchise.
Oh and what were creator dudes running from at the beginning? We know there are already Xenomorphs because there was that weird wall painting thing, so why did they have to evolve again (when the goo started to melt).
Aaaaannnnnyway I do love that Ridley Scott has a thing for strong, kick asparagus women and Michael Fassbender made a pretty hot android, so that was good at least.
