I have a whole new system arriving today. Any suggestions on a sexy sexy super pretty game to help burn the buyer's remorse from my consciousness via eyeball melting? I'm planning on cranking the graphics settings to eleventy.

I'm considering Skyrim. It does look a lot prettier on PC, but I already have 3 xbox characters past level 30. I've heard it's pretty easy to get Skyrim saves from xbox to PC and the mods are pretty sweet looking - the game really needs a horse whistle. I have Max Payne 3 on pre-order so my shooting needs are probably covered for awhile, too.

You guys, Metro 2033 is the first game of this week's THQ sale and it's amazing. It's only $5, it looks beautiful (okay, not traditionally beautiful but very good graphics for a very dirty, gross world), and it's a great single-player game.
This is today's sale. $5. I picked it up.

An inactive Dragon Age 2 page was also found. I don't recall DA2 ever being on Steam, so I'm hopeful that it means an ultimate edition of DA2 is on the way. It'd be awfully nice if Mass Effect 3 could make its way onto Steam as well!
Anyone interested in running some killing floor or l4d 1 or 2? There are a few normal maps and hard maps some people were missing and I think someone else still needs the creek or bridge achievements?

Summer Sale is finally here! I've already scooped up most of what I wanted - getting PC versions of X-Box games I have, basically. So New Vegas (hoping it crashes less than the 360 version), Oblivion, and also Morrowind since I'd never played any TES games before Skyrim. I'm hoping Arkham City gets voted in for the afternoon deal, though that will pretty much wipe out the excitement for me since there will be nothing left.

I guess it's a good thing I went out and bought cat and dog food before Brian gets home and starts the bank account drain!
The Walking Dead is 25% off, that's the main game I was holding out on buying until the sale started.

This sale is already completely bonkers! Flash deals, what?!?! I could miss one while I'm at work!
Of today's deals, I would not skip Portal 2. That's a ludicrously low price for such a fun game. Indie Bundle 1 is also pretty solid for the price. Cave Story is certainly a great game, Anomaly: Warzone Earth is fun if you're into reverse tower defense (you play the invader, not the tower), Lone Survivor is very Silent Hill inspired and creepy, and Edge is more of a racing platformer than a puzzle game. I think The Baconing is the weak link in that package, but you can't beat the price regardless.
The badges are definitely a change of pace from the last couple sales. There don't appear to be any prizes or contests tied to them, which I'm not holding against them. The contests have been a lot of fun but easily gamed. I just got my Pillar of Community badge, which were all tasks I'd previously completed but I had to redo a couple. The summer sale 2012 badge seems easy to get as long as you buy something, join the group, and vote on community deals a lot.
The badges, however, are a little buried. There doesn't appear to be a shortcut to them on the store's front page, so the fastest way I've gotten to them is by going to community page, viewing your own profile, and then viewing your badges. If anyone can find a shorter path, let me know! I hope they add more badges as the sale goes on.

OH! And for anyone who doesn't know the rules of the Steam sale:
If something is a daily deal, it lasts about 24 hours. That is the cheapest price it'll be during the whole sale, so buy it!
If something is on sale but it is NOT a daily deal, it might be a daily deal later so hold off! A lot of games are on sale but the ones that are not a daily deal will stay on sale for the duration of the sale so you're best off waiting until the last day in case the game goes up as a daily deal for even cheaper!
Flash deals and community deals are new! Community deals are on an 8 hour lifespan, and they appear to be at daily deal prices, so jump on it fast if you want it! Flash deals also appear to be daily deal prices and on a five or six hour lifespan, so jump on those too!

These flash deals are doing to make me nuts!
Darksiders is $5!!!!! If you like Zelda (Ocarina and beyond), or God of War, or Joe Madureira, jump on it! I'm not even a fan of Zelda, which is the game's clearest influence, and I loved Darksiders. It's even got Mark Hamill voicework!

But crusader kings 2 and it's DLC.
And awesome more realistic grand strat game somewhere between the sims and civilization focused on the politics of running the court with over 200 hours played on my steam account. (my girlfriends computer is what I have to use lately and she is addicted to the game) and is has system requires that are simple enough that a 5 year old 250 dollar when bought acer with 2 gigs of memory and an intel graphics card can run it no problem.

I bought Crusader Kings 2 today. There's a Game Of Thrones mod out there that looks pretty good. Man, I can't stop. At least that game stop trade in for wallet bucks took the edge off a little.

I kind of wish my work had a more robust internet policy. Not only can I go on Steam, but I left my PC running at home so I can use the remote install feature.
