I didn't see this posted...someone made a netflix Dr Who guide. Its a season behind, as season 6 is now up on Netflix, but otherwise its good. http://www.nathaniajohnson.com/guide-to ... on-netflix

And who's idea was this? Quote: The Beginning – 3 discs (DVD)
Disc 1: The Daleks (sub series 2) Disc 2: The Edge of Destruction (sub series 3) Disc 3: An Unearthly Child (sub series 1) Shouldn't Unearthly Child be disc 1? Or do we want dessert first and go straight to the Daleks.

I agree with the suggestion that you start with the 9th Doctor, move to 10, and then to 11, pausing in between each season for the Christmas special. The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe was one of my favorite Christmas specials! Wikipedia has a nice list of the series in order. :) ENJOY!
My most favorite episodes broken down by Doctor: 9-Father's Day, The Doctor Dances, The Parting of Ways 10-The Girl in the Fireplace, The Satan Pit, Doomsday, Gridlock, Blink, Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead 11-Vincent and the Doctor, Night Terrors
Also, I can't decide which Doctor I love the most. I just...can't.
I have a Word doc with notes on every episode I've seen. Does that make me a nerd?

I watched an episode or two of one of the newest seasons, because people on tumblr won't shut the hell up about it and I don't like feeling left out. But I hated it. After reading this thread I might give it another chance though. And start from the beginning.

I always say that it takes three episodes. I was meh about the first one, okay with the second and totally obsessed by the third.

I think it was around episode 4 or 5 when you get to meet the daleks. That episode was really the point of no return for me. The newer stuff ties a lot of past events. If you start with series 1 you get to learn the history gradually rather than get plopped into the middle of the Who Universe (Whoniverse?) without a clue.

Nice hat, smelfood.
I had an awesomely whovian moment a while back. I was having tea with some friends when one of them nods to a perfectly police box shaped lantern in the window saying "that one needs to be blue" and just as we all turn to it nodding our agreement another friend's (well friend of a friend really, but details don't matter) phone goes "Exterminate!" (her ring signal). I love having geeky friends!

I wish I had friends who understood my geekiness like that, fruitbat. None of my current friends even know what Doctor Who is, and that just seems wrong.
