Okay, now I don't know which one would be better. Courtney Love would be some kind of awesome blasphemy, but Yoko Ono would be... like nothing ever seen before. I don't particularly mind McCartney doing it. Would be a lot better than anything else he's done for twenty years.

I was super against it until I saw the performance. Then it was just like a bunch of aged dudes having fun playing a song that sounded like The Beatles' Helter Skelter and The Word mixed together with Dave Grohl screaming. Then I remembered I don't care. Then I saw Krist and got giggly a bit and was happy to see him jamming on bass again.

yeah i havent watched yet but apparently they had all jammed together before and then wrote a song together and that's what they played i guess?
whatever i read led me to believe they would be playing several Nirvana songs with Paul as Kurt and i just thought that was beyond weird.
either the media blew it into something it wasnt (go figure) or i read into it what wasnt there ;-)

yeah, i think it was strategic. i hadn't heard of the concert until that morning when people were buzzing about the paul as kurt thing. i bet they got a lot more donations because of it. (i know for sure they got an extra tenner) :-)

They were billed as Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and Friends. Not really a Nirvana reunion. The whole thing was kinda weird. I do like the idea of Dave Grohl fronting a Nirvana reunion and getting a new drummer. That would be wild.
Somewhat related...the guy they got to replace Layne Staley of Alice in Chains sounds remarkably like him. At least on the records.
