Arrested Development, Community, Seinfeld, Frasier, Criminal Minds, Big Bang Theory are my main ones. During the day I can usually just leave A&E on for noise unless they're doing a marathon of Dog the Bounty Hunter or something equally annoying.

I tend to go for science, history, or nature programs. Sometimes travel. Sometimes movies. Good bad sci fi movies, comedies, classics, horror. Sometimes DIY or home and garden stuff. Or cartoons.

I usually don't have TV playing in the background during the day, I am usually listening to music of some stripe.
However, to fall asleep I require noise. If I don't have any noise or just have music, that means I'm left with my thoughts as I try to fall asleep. This normally doesn't end well, so I typically have a background tv show to fall asleep to. Right now this is the West Wing, and it is so forking good..

Preferrably House Hunters International!

If I know that I'm pretty much going to fall asleep to it, Battlestar Galactica. Also Big Bang Theory works when I'd rather be looking at stuff on the computer. Usually while I'm doing homework or work-work, it's music or nothing.

I second That 70s Show! That or any Real Housewives show. I have a bad habit of catching up with emails and eating dinner and watching TV all at once and those shows usually work perfectly.

It doesn't seem like it should work, but it does, especially if it's a show I really like. Lately I've been rewatching Arrested Development. When I had gallstones, I spent many a night trying to doze off to Cribs at 4am! I hate that show though. haha. There is nothing else on in the early hours apparently.

ER, Buffy, or Bones for marathon knitting sessions.
Lately, Big Bang Theory or Coronation Street.
Otherwise, it's the CBC News channel. Or the Weather Network.

The Weather Network, CP24 (it's a Canadian, Toronto-based, 24-hour news channel), or The Simpsons.

i don't have a TV anymore but it used to be House and Burn Notice. i'm big on voices and i love hugh laurie's scruffy american accent. i've always loved bruce campbell's voice but what i like most in burn notice is the interludes where jeffery donovan explains stuff about the world of a spy. i find it very soothing to listen to.

Big Bang Theory, Friends, The Office, or Reba.
I really like Reba and always sing the theme song as loud as I can.
