It's driving me crazy how it's supposedly summertime in Georgia and everyone is walking around in jeans and boots and long-sleeved t-shirts being super sweaty. Put on some shorts! For god's sake. There is plenty of available clothing around in all those empty houses.

More exposed flesh means more potential biting spots!
I'd be wearing straight-up armor.

yeah i would definitely not be walking around in shorts during the zombie apocalypse. there's the biting things, but also running through the woods and swamps and rivers and whatnot? shorts are not for survival.

I find it hard to believe that all the girls spent the day at the spa getting waxes and pedi's the day before the zombie apocalypse.

I am going to make my first vegan gingerbread house this year and I came up with the idea to make a replica of Hershel's Farm completely out of gingerbread! It will have the creepy barn in back and maybe a few tents near some trees. I am going to decorate gingerbread women and men to look like the characters and have a few zombies stuck in a muddy (chocolate)perimeter. If you have any cool ideas for details that can be made of candy or edible elements, please let me know! (Also, if you have tried and true recipes for vegan gingerbread and decorating icing, those'd be welcome, too) Thanks!

That sounds zombie-tastic! Please post pictures!!
Sorry, I have no suggestions on any edible elements. I can barely manage frosting on cupcakes.

There's a bunch of templates you can find online. I made a serial killer pig farm for MoFo last year. The barn template worked pretty well. As for gingerbread, I always use the PPK recipe. It's so good and easy to work with as long as you keep it cold. For characters, I like working with marzipan because I don't have much patience or ability with royal icing. And back on topic: I totally agree with everybody who is saying pants are best for an apocalypse. Shorts are just not functional.

again, if you're going to be trekking through the woods, rivers, swamps, or just walking miles and miles and miles in general, regular shoes aren't going to work. i wouldn't do any sort of "survival walking" (which i'm going to go ahead and assume is similar to hiking) in anything other than heavy duty hiking boots.

What I find the most unrealistic about the wardrobe is that the girls never have pit stains. Come on.

You can't have pit stains when you're grabbing crotches.

I just started watching Enlightened and Herschel is in the episode I'm watching now! He runs a homeless shelter. He acts a lot like Herschel.

Check him out on IMDB.com. He already has a health acting history. There is a cool picture showing him what he looked like when he was young.

Charmkinface wrote: Every scene between Lori and Rick seems forced - is it just me or do they have zero chemistry as a couple?
I actually love this fact. In the first episode we see Rick telling Shane that he and Lori have been fighting again and in a flashback one of Lori's friends asks her if she still loves Rick. I like that they are back together and they're trying (wouldn't you in the midst of a zombie apocalypse?) but it's not really working. In fact, what I love most about the show is that while it can be scary as fork, it can really be watched as a character study. Every person on the show is weak and flawed and irritating as hell, just like if you found yourself in a rag-tag band of strangers in the midst of hell opening up. And I think that they explore things quite nicely. For example, I think that so much about the attempted-rape scene was brilliant. It was ugly and scary, and it looked how those situations often look: it's someone she knows and (until that point) trusts, he feels an entitlement to her and doesn't view what he's doing as violent or rapey, she's caught between "fork this can't happen" and "how hard do I fight back?", and afterward she feels like she can't tell anyone (not even her husband) and has to still deal with this prick in her daily life, and even put her life in his hands. Not at all how TV usually portrays sexualized violence and I thought it was really powerful.

I'm thinking of the movie The Road and other post-apochalyptic stories. Aside from Merle and Shane's recent actions Rick's group really hasn't seen the kind of ugliness from other people that would happen in a post-apochalyptic world.
Then again, they are a small group, they have not encountered many other people *yet* and those they have encountered have been too busy dodging zombies to put the screws to their fellow humans, yet.
