I saw Matthew Modine at VP2 in NYC, he came in to pick up a takeout order. I also passed right by Willem Dafoe walking in Tribeca.
My friend saw one of the frat bros from Borat, from that scene in the trailer, at a bar in NY. He later ran into him in the bathroom, the guy was talking on his phone bisqueing about how all these people recognized him and were giving him shiitake.

I met Wilson Cruz in 2000 in college. Then I met Dr. Drew Pinsky in 2001 in college as well. It paid off to have a friend be on the entertainment board that allowed me to meet the celebs that came around. I was also in the same room about 10 ft away from Julie from the real world new orleans, the real "Patch Adams", Jon Stewart (plus as an added bonus i got to take home his leftover loaf of bread), and Davy Jones also made an appearance at my college. I also have an autograph from James Marsters (spike from buffy/angel) that my friend who did meet him got for me.

I saw Fidel Castro at Pierre Trudeau's funeral. For real.
I also saw Tom Lenk (Andrew from BTVS), and I asked if he was vegan (sadly, no), and got a picture with him.
Jeff Garlin (I'm totally sure) once came into the record store where I used to work and bought something I can't remember.

I went with my boyfriend to interview David Arquette when they were filming Scream 4 in Ann Arbor. Also went with him to interview Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from Whose Line is it Anyway. We see Jason Segal around town like once a week now because he's filming here, too. We have yet to talk to him, he is always having a beer and looks like he wants to be alone.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I forgot this one. I was in the recording studio with Damian Marley and Nas once. My uncle is good friends with the Marley family and so he took us to the Jim Henson studios to see them record. It was really awkward because it was all their friends hanging out and it was like a record scratching when me, my boyfriend, and my uncle walked in. Anyway, it was pretty neat, even for 5 minutes.

I met Tony Orlando when in Branson, MO, when I was a kid. He and my dad talked for a while about being Greek.
I work at this gigantic, renouned Whole Foods. We get a lot of celebrity chefs, including Rick Bayless, Stephanie Izard and a bunch of other Top Chef contestants, and probably many more Chicago chefs I don't recognize. Oh! I went to a cooking demo with Chad Sarno a few months ago. He made some tasty things. I saw Tim Meddows in the bakery once too.
The only time I was really star-struck was when I made coffee for Vince Vaughn. Large skim vanilla latte, in case you were wondering. He was super nice.
I also helped Queen Noor of Jordan at the cheese counter at work (pregan days).
The guys from Grizzly Bear were waiting in the same food line as us during Lollapalooza last year. They'd just finished their set, but no one around seemed to notice who they were but me and my friends. I didn't want to approach them and start a swarm.
And a bunch of Cubs players from the 2002-04 seasons. My friends were really into baseball back then. I'm really not into those 'friends' any more.

I was introduced to Bob Moog (yeah, Moog Synthesizers Bob Moog) at the Berklee College of Music when I worked there. Also Al Kooper. And I sold my Optigan to Al Schnier of the band moe., who was a pretty nice guy.
Coldandsleepy and I have hung out with John Vanderslice before and after concerts a bunch. She ran his merch booth at a show in Northampton, MA, and the day before our wedding we went to a show in San Francisco, said hi to him, and ended up backstage eating pizza and chatting with him and some San Francisco recording studio guys he knew for a couple of hours. Plus at one point I bought a record album from him at a show, got it home to discover that the vinyl of sides 1 and 2 was actually a mislabeled side 3 and 4 (and side 3 and 4 were also side 3 and 4), emailed him to ask about swapping it, and since they had all sold out I ended up with his personal test pressing and a signed poster... He's totally the nicest guy ever.
And I've LARPed with some Boston-area video game designers (Looking Glass Studios people who mostly now work at Harmonix) and have met a bunch of Boston-area bands in the early and mid 90's, but probably not anyone you'd have heard of...

Oh yeah, and I went to a room party at a conference with Eric Allman, the guy who wrote sendmail, which although you may not know what that is, you have almost certainly used it (indirectly) just by dint of being on the internet and probably having sent or received email.
He throws good parties.

I almost forgot that I served James Taylor pot roast, a kaliber, and chocolate cake at the restaurant where I used to work (and hubby is the chef).
OH, and JJR, we were definitely following around Ryan Reynolds at first just because he was so hot. Then my friend realized that he was 'that guy from two guys and a girl.'

Oh right. I was at a record store in Northampton, MA, with a friend, when we ran into David Crosby. We then apologized. Whoops.

I haven't really met anyone interesting. I met Jerry Springer several times. He was very pleasant. Richard Simmons was also very nice and what you see on TV is not who he is off stage. I also met assorted members of Deep Purple. They talked to my boss about England (I was working for someone from Birmingham at the time.)
I met a bunch of comic related people back when I managed a comic store - Todd McFarland, Peter David, Dave Sim, Rob Liefeld, Terry Moore, Richard and Wendy Pini, Jeff Smith, Brian Michael Bendis, Bob Burden, Steve Bissette, Bernie Wrightson, Sergio Aragones, Paul Pope, Harlan Ellison, Frank Miller...There are more but I can't remember them plus some of them are more obscure. Warren Ellis was a pen pal of sorts for awhile. It was easy to get into parties at conventions and retailer conferences if you were not a fan boy. I also volunteered for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund which helped but did not ever get me face to face with Neil Gaiman (Sorry Whichsarah).

First, the Emperor and Sergio Aragones: Second, I have peed at a urinal next to the urinal at which Neil Gaiman was peeing. I did not say hello since I figured he probably wanted a little privacy and it would be way too creepy. Neither did I turn and check out his junk, sorry. He did wash his hands afterward. I don't have a picture of this. Edited to add: AND NOW I TAKE OVER THE THREAD with my AWESOME and STAR-STUDDED LIFE. Sheesh.

Are you accusing Neil Gaiman of not washing his hands after peeing? How dare you!

I bartended a birthday party for Lil' Jon & Pitbull, when they had just made it big. It was a bar owned by a studio, and the two of them were honestly the nicest ones there. The entourage were more uppity, by far. I've met lots of DJs and electronica people back when I was a DJ in South Beach.
Big superstar-wise... Biz Markie at the airport, Taye Diggs, Dizzee Rascal & ?uestlove at another party. Oh, how I miss underground party invites in South Beach. One was a pantaloon party where Boy George (in his boxers) threw a huge fit about the sound system. Hilarious.
Last time I was at the airport I saw Jason Lee. He's cute, and surprisingly tall!

I've run into Christopher Hitchens, Rowan Atkinson, Rod Stewart, the Duke of York and a bunch of people who probably aren't known outside of Germany (including a porn star who had previously been mocked on TV).

Oh! Forgot the foodies. Years ago, I got to work an opening night of SoBe Food & Wine festival as part of my degree (each big chef got three of us as sous chefs), so I got to cook with a then-rising-star Aaron Sanchez. I met Anthony Bourdain, Tom Colicchio, Michelle Bernstein, Ming Tsai, Hubert Ripert, Marcus Samuelsson, Bobby Flay, and Jonathan Waxman - and that's the short list. Being the food freak I am now, while I appreciated the opportunity then - I wish I would've truly realized who I was amongst! Maybe I was just too exhausted.. ha. All of them were really, REALLY nice to us students...except for Flay.

We were once having a birthday dinner for a friend at our usual pub, and then we realised that Clive Owen was drinking at the bar behind us. It was super surprising because it's not a particularly nice pub, it's the dirty place where all our friend's bands play and they have a $10 dinner menu. We didn't want to be dicks or get up and let our food get cold, so we let him drink in peace. But it was still pretty awesome.

Oh, music related?
My old band played with (so I've met/hung out with) Propagandhi, The Weakerthans, Jim Bryson, The Fembots, and Minus The Bear. Oh, and Akimbo, Conifer, and Ampere, if those names mean anything to any of you.
Also, Mike has an almost-as-adorable picture of him with Sergio Aragones.
