Deadly Sins guy seems cool but his food seems lacking. Veggie Girl's veggies are on the back burner, Pie Guy is a Lie guy (he can't make decent pie!), The Southern Chick - um FN is overloaded with white southern women - well, I guess a spot just opened when they booted Paula Deen last week but still...

Viet is cool but shy - more Asian cooking would be nice to see...Handsome Rugged Pork Fetish dude seems cool but I feel like they are just playing up his sex appeal...

Giada just bugs me...The way she says spaghetti makes me want to punch her. My dad's family came off the boat, my dad still has his water wings on sometimes...No one in my family says spaghetti like that.

YES. My boyfriend's family is very, very Italian and every time Giada is on our TV screen, he's like "THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SAY SPAGHETTI."

I may or may not also think she looks like The Joker, but that's beside the point.

She does! Big head, liiiiittle body. Something about her mouth just reminds me of the Joker. Like it's too wide for her face. I don't know.

I loved it when Alton poked fun at her spaghetti pronunciation!

I'm feeling like Stacey is the only contestant worth a darn in this whole competition. I kind of hate everyone else for various reasons.

Yeah, her and THE BARBEQUE GUY IM THE BARBEQUE GUY.

Why don't they pick contestants that they actually LIKE who have potential? It's forking baffling.

I feel like last season was so much better. They really flubbed on who they picked to be on the show this time around.

And now that Bob is back judging, we get such gems as "you were too perfect! We don't like that."

Whatever.

Yeah, Stacy is totally the best right now. I hate that Viet was eliminated, because he just seems like such a genuinely good guy with a lot of skills. In his talking heads, he seems totally comfortable with the camera, and it's unfortunate that he couldn't translate that to the competition.

The thing I don't understand about this season is that every episode THEY HAVE TO PRESENT and everyone is always like, UGH, we have to present in a challenge! I mean, isn't that what they are there for? And if they hate presenting so much, why are they there?

Viet should apply for Top Chef. But they were never going to like him here anyway because he is fairly low key and FN seems to think that low key = "no personality."

Anytime something crazy happens with the judging or challenges, I just remind myself that this is the network that had Sandra Lee and everything makes sense again.

Also, the host having a coughing attack is REALLY different from some dishes falling. I would hope that your concern for the host would trump the fact that it's live TV. If I watched something where the host was coughing like crazy and the guy giving the cooking demo could not give any shiitakes, I'd definitely think that they guy was a douche, not a professional.

I like that they thought that there was one right answer for "Name three dips."

"Guacamole, hummus, salsa, that's it!" or whatever.

Aaaaand furthermore, Viet's challenge was also harder than anyone else's. The "surprise" for everyone else was midway through the presentation. Viet's missing peppers happened before everything and he was first. I don't know. Seems like bullshiitake.

And the fire alarm! That is not at all like having to use a fork instead of a whisk.

Yeah, I thought those curveballs they threw in the challenges were ridick! I liked Viet too and think it's sad he's gone. He seemed like a great cook!

I agree those distractions were unfair and dumb. My other thought in addition to Isa's douche comment above was...eww, the guy's coughing all over the place - surely germs got on the food or cooking utensils. My "save" or whatever they referred to it as would have been "instead of cooking, let's disinfect!"

About the contestants, I think it'll come down to Stacy and BBQ Guy, but I have no idea or forgot what Stacy's POV is and I think BBQ Guy looks like a grungier Mel Gibson and so I have a hard time liking him.

I think Giada just said that because it was such an easy question to answer, and that was the easy answer if you really couldn't think of anything else.

Agreed. Her POV is making classic stuff with a new twist, which seems to be working for her. She is a little stilted when it comes to the camera (or...too perfect? as Bob said). BBQ is just so limited. He's good in front of the camera, but I don't think that they consistently think his food is as good as hers.

I thought the fire alarm thing was dumb....i would have been like single file out the door please...

will the pie guy ever make something good?

FN already has a bbq show - Bobby Flay's Boy Meets Grill...I dislike Bobby though...
